TRD rim size/tire question

I now have TRD rims that are 17x7.0 and I have Goodyear Dura Trac 265/70R/17 on them now, the approved rim width is 7.0-8.5 so I'm good there. I like these tires and was looking to go up a size to 275/70R/17 but the only problem is the next size up is 285/70R/17, they don't make a Dura Trac in 275/70R/17. the 285/70R/17 approved rim width is 7.5-9.0

my question is does the 1/2" rim width really make a difference? can I mount the 285's on my current 17x7.0 rims or do I need to buy a new set of wider rims?

I'll sell you the TRD wheels off my 2019 TD Pro. They are 17x7.5. I'm in Ohio, too. FYI

Edit: Weird. From my quick Google search, it appears they are 17x7.
I swear I saw 17x7.5 on the door sticker...

There are tons of people running 285s on pro wheels. You might run into a tire shop who doesnt want to mount them, but I suspect most wont care.

My suggestion OP, don't buy the DuraCrap tires and get the size you were originally after, problem solved and a better tire in its place. That said, you will be fine running the 285/70 on the 7" wide Pro wheels.

Does any tire fit a TRD ORP stock with TRD rims? This has been one of the more frustrating encounters with my truck. Thanks!

Any tire? No, but common ones are 255/75/17, 255/80/17, 265/70/17 (stock), 275/70/17, 285/70/17(Rated for at least 7.5 rim, but some use 7.0(TRD) rim).

Thank you. I meant like is there a tire out there that's a guaranteed fit with no rubbing on a TRD ORP using a TRD rim.

Seems like some people don't have any rubbing and some do.

So I would have to modify the mud flap or bumper?

A 275/70R17 should fit. A 285/70R17 probably won't. Every 4Runner is different. With 285s it might mean some trimming, or it might mean a body mount chop.
