I called the dealer to schedule the 30k service and my free oil change...

I thought I'd check the discount on the $159 30k-mile service since didn't need the oil change it included. When I bought the truck I got 2 free oil changes at any Toyota dealer and then 2 free oil changes at my dealer. I wasn't sure if the dealer-only oil changes also included free tire rotation and that's included in the $159, etc, etc, etc. And I don't need the cabin air filter changed.

Oh, and I wanted to make certain the $159 included re-torquing the drive shaft and lubing it. It does. Okay, propeller shaft if you insist.

Then she said the magic words, "But your 2 years of free McGeorge Care means it's all FREE."

The alignment check is free and the state inspection is $16.

$16? I love Monday mornings sometimes.

Dual range 5 speed, factory skid plate, 3 position manually adjustable rear shocks and armored exhaust. All factory, including the white spoke wheels. The front sub frame finally rusted apart.

Don't most dealers down there do free state inspections? They do up here in NoVA.

When you go the pick up your 4Runner, lay a rug on the ground and crawl under the vehicle to verify the propeller shaft was lubricated. My dealer didn't lube it when I purchased $260 blue service for a car. I would have to buy blue service for a truck that costs $300 to have the driveshaft lubricated.

I think I have to pay for the inspection. We'll see. Some things were free for 2 years at any dealer and now some things will be free for 2 more years but only where I bought it. I just never figured they'd cover the 30k checkup.

I always carry a plastic tarp and a piece of thick folded cardboard that's about 3' x 5'. Cardboard makes it easy to sliiiiiiide up under things like riding mowers and trucks.

Thing is, I now have a 3-car garage, a floor jack, stands, ramps, engine lift and all that stuff. I got married in November and her late husband left a garage full of auto restoration stuff when he died in 2007. And a '64 Olds 2-door convertible too, but that's her son's.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do the bare minimum for free.

I buy all my parts from McGeorge Toyota and have them shipped to my USA mailbox and bring them across the border. I've had about a dozen transactions and a few interactions over the last 4 years , and they've been great to deal with!

$16 is a damn good trip to the shop
