Installed Rhino Rack Dome 1300 Awning, assist from GZila Designs

So I got a Dome 1300 awning off of the back of my rig, installed on a Gobi rack, it seems to work perfectly and can't wait to use it in the woods. I was worried that with the lift gate up it would hit the awning but when the awning is out it was no problem. However, with the awning all rolled up an using the factory mounts there is not enough room to fully open the lift gatehttp://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/sad/sad0049.gif

But the friendly fellows at GZila Designs have a handy dandy tube mounted bracket that fit just perfectly.... nice work and very handy. Perfect location now.

Nice setup! Why did you choose the rear and not sides?

Tossing around the idea of a awning myself. Think I figured out a way to mount it to the early 5th Trail roof rack.

Sweet, thanks for the pics!

I'm mounting an ARB on the side and wanted the small ARB for back but this is sweet too

I am building a pull out stove, fridge, camp slider in the back of the car so I need something that would cover the back area for camping, tailgating, hangin' at the lake, plus with the lift gate up or window down and party mode in effect I expect to hang out back there more. I also plan on getting a roof top tent that will flip out over the passenger side and give some shade there and the other side has my hi lift jack so not much room for a side awning. I really wanted one those 270 deg wrap around awning systems but they are pretty expensive and with the way our lift gates come up so high they just don't work. But I also got an extension panel for this one so I can zip on a panel to either of the other three sides and make a larger shade area or a wind break.

I also have a Trail. I am in the process of buying the Foxwing. What attachments did you use to attach your ARB awning? Is it attached to an aftermarket roof rack or the original rails?

Do you think there is a way to attach these awnings to the original roof rails?

I don't think you can attach to original roof rails, mine is attached to aftermarket Gobi roof rack

Attached to a Gobi rack but they make them for different diameters

Nice setup! How is the GZila mount working so far with the Gobi? I just purchased James Baroud awning and it turns out they don't provide a way to attach to the tubular racks like Gobi. Thus, I need a solution for my Gobi Stealth and a side awning. Have you noticed any slippage when driving – especially offroading?

Thanks!

Which GZilla mount did you use for the Dome 1300? They don't have that option. Was it just the standard Rhino Rack Sunseeker option? I ordered one from Gobi as they produce it now but tbh they are taking ages to make it. Its just a simple L bracket. So I might grab one from Gzilla.
