Which exhaust? Debating on Gibson vs MBRP
I've seen a lot of posts about Gibson and Borla. But has anyone looked into MBRP? Hubby has one on his f250 and its been great. I really love the sound of the Tundra TRD Pro, so something as close as I can get on the 4runner
Also read about some having that drone effect and I would like to avoid that... so any favorites?

MBRP is loud, made in china, and the rust at the welds, and seams on the muffler.
I live in Arizona, and my stainless MBRP rusted in 1.5 years.

I am happy with my MBRP, but it has only been on for 3 months. Ive heard of the Rust issue so I plan to remove it and coat it.

Coating it wont stop it from rotting inside. But that will take 3 plus years

I have a Gibson with the dual tip side exit and honestly it is kind of junk for the price. It didn't install easily and there was barely any space between the cross member when I installed it. It has been on for about a month and a half and the welds are already rusting. It now rattles even after I have repeatedly tightened the bolts for it. I will be getting the Toyota TRD cat back and throwing this away when it comes out.

I love my Gibson. I have the black stainless side exit. It was a little tricky installing but if you lower the spare tire. Helped a lot. Did not cut the stock off which it was asked to do but wanted to keep it. Also if you have a buddy or friend rotate the pipe coming out of the muffler to pull it away from the rattle point. And then torque down. You will be good. I had the rattle. Then rotated and torqued down. Never once rattled again. Partnered it with an URD YPipe. I love it. Sounds throaty. Normal driving has a small rumble. When you get on it you know its there. No fumes in the back window like before. And just looks incredible.

I had an MBRP unit on my Tundra and it was fine. No rust, but I live in CA. Sounded really good.
I have Borla on my T4R and love it. Fit and finish is nice. No drone at all. Not overly loud.

I'll second this. I finally gave in and had a muffler shop weld mine on both sides of the muffler. Plus the was a little lip in my tip causing it to whistle. It sounds good but I don't recommend it. I don't have the rust issue yet though.

Do yourself a favor and skip a full exhaust. Buy just the muffler that you like the sound of for 100 bucks, take it to the muffler shop and let them weld it in for the 40 bucks or whatever it costs. A full exhaust adds absolutely nothing.
Make sure to keep your stock muffler so you can change it back after you realize that you hate having the aftermarket exhaust.

I went for MBRP - and would do it again 100%. Super affordable, perfect fitment, sounds fantastic IMO (little drone, but nothing too bad) *I do have a K&N CAI, so that may help with the sound...Only changes I made to it was cut about 1.5 inches of the exit pipe off so the tip sticks up a little higher out of the rear end (to help prevent it from getting smashed - & personal pref.), I also opted to weld on the muffler rather than use band clamps because they have the potential to expand and contract with heat causing the ability to leak condensation & I didn't like that, OH & I gave it a good polish with this stuff:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I have zero complaints after having it 6 months. For $299 not exactly sure why anyone wouldn't go for this system. My system was made in Canada - not exactly sure why people think they come from China, but that's false.
**I also live in Southern California so the weather has not played a role in any rust issues (as of yet)
