Eibach needs a stock TRD PRO in SoCal

Currently on a road trip and woke up around 4:30. I was cruising the thread and came accross this one. Thanks Mark for stepping in to answer some questions. Good luck Ryan at your new job. So now I need to buy some springs. Thanks all for making me spend money. Lol

Also waiting for settled measurements and confirmation of 285’s. Do you still need the uca to make them fit without rubbing?

Eibach springs front and rear with 285/70/17 Ridge Grapplers. Have spidertrax 1.25 spacers installed too. Had some slight rubbing at times on fender liner and mud flap that a heat gun fixed for now. Quick eye ball measurement with stock tires.

Did you have to do any kind of BMC? I'm hoping to not have to do that but still go with 285s

I’m waiting on my springs. When you say a heat gun you heat the inside wheel well and push it in more? I know some guys remove the mud flaps.

Quick 1 week update....had the alignment done on Saturday and the best we can get on the caster was 2.9. Drives straight and handles well with this setting, eventually I will be upgrading to JBA UCA to reach the spec of 4.0 just for the sake of it and for better articulation.

Ride quality on road has improved, didn't notice how it was before but with these springs the truck shows little or no body roll on sharp turns and four leaf exits on the highways. Truck also rides a lot stiffer in a positive way, no more of the cushy feel that was starting to bug me. I think there was a thread on here about some other members stating the same ride quality after owning their Pro's for a certain amount of time.

Also was able to hit the same trail before the swap this Sunday but didn't notice any major improvements other than a stiffer ride and the shocks handling small bumps better. I'm no expert but it seem to rebound quicker and better? Maybe other more experienced off roaders can chime in on this.

You have exactly what my next 2 mods are going to be 285's and Spidertrax, thank you for the info. Have you done any flexing/articulation while turning to see if we'll have to do a BMC?

Looks good your plan. Couple questions with the shims added to the front won’t it be much higher than the rear? Also do you think you need the diff drop or just adding it incase. The reason I’m asking waiting on my springs to come. Making sure on all this before I have the install done. I just noticed your going with different springs for the rear. Ok. Thanks.

The Dobinson diff. drop only lowers it by 1/2" even though they are larger spacers. I don't think its 100% necessary but its pennies in the bucket to reduce the angle of the cv axle.

Ya, i got different springs for the rear. The total lift should be 2.6" front/ 2.5" rear to keep some rake. If needed later on i could remove a shim and adjust the rears for a more level look. I'm f'n pumped though, counting the days!

Any reason you chose SPC over JBA, Dobinsons, etc. for your UCA?

Installing basically the same setup BTW. Thank you for your recommendations for the front shims and bump stops!!

I'm no expert, I just like SPC's design better. The control arm seems more robust, the ball joint has more articulation, and it has slightly more available caster/camber for better alignment.

I don’t think BMC will be necessary. My caster matched right at 3.0*. The mud flaps may have to come off and I need to trim the bumper a little more than what the factory did. It rubs the mud flap every once in a while, and rubs the bumper every time I back up and turn on left and right sides. So far I agree with what you said about the ride and handling.

K4Run: we are going for a pretty similar setup. I ordered eibach Fronts, Dobs 1/4” top mount spacers, SPCs, Dobs C59-505 1.5” rear springs, and getting 285/75/17 KO2s, 255/80/17 Wildpeak spare for underneath. Planning to do spidertraxx and tires on stock wheels.

Fronts arrive tomorrow. The rest should get in early next week. Pumped!

Curious how you are thinking you’ll get 2.6” front lift. Was thinking the eibach springs would settle out at 1.6” as advertised. This is why I got the shims to add 0.5” to get a total of 2.1”. Are people finding that the springs aren’t settling and are staying at 2” lift?

That sounds like a nice setup too! Post pics when you can.

I spoke with the guys at Coachbuilder and they said you can use a up to two 1/4" coilover shims per side with longer studs and bumpstop extensions so I am going to give it a try. It's similar to what the Toytec spacer kit does. They replace the front spring perch with a thicker one that preloads the spring a little and also use a coilover shim (top plate spacer w/ longer studs). One 1/4" shim is supposed to provide 1/2" of lift per the manufacturer.

Eibach (1.6") + Two 1/4" Shims per side (1") = 2.6"

Coachbuilder Strut / Coilover Shim ( Provides .50” of lift ) Tacoma/4R – Shop Coachbuilder
