TRD Pro Kit vs. Eibach Pro Truck Lift Kit

Ok, I posted this on DFW Forum and got some interesting advice. What do you think?

Countdown to lifting my rig has begun! Seeking recommendations: I’m about to add a lift kit to my ‘18 SR5P 4x4. What’s better, a nearly new OEM TRD Pro Bilstein lift (or similar 6112/5160 kit with 1-2” lift) OR new Eibach Pro Lift Kit 2.75” front / 1” rear?

I hear the Bilstein is a better kit but rides a bit harsher than Eibach, the valving is less responsive as a daily driver, but it’s highly engineered for the 4Runner. I only go wheeling 3-4x per year. Any thoughts?

Tough question to answer as everyone has different expectations and a lot of 4runners get different results with the exact same setup. I went toytec only because I used their sister company on my other truck and they were awesome. not so much on the 4runner, they suck. Test drive a pro and see if that's what you like. The pro still has rake. I had bad luck with Fox on my other trucks but that may be different on the runner and plenty of cheaper options for a runner that perform better on the 4runner. Eibach and dobkins have great reviews in this forum. Many like the 6112's but anything is better than stock!
Edit: I mis read or you edited your post. No way would I buy a used Bilstien pro setup. most sell the stock setups and move on for a reason

TRD Pro Kit vs. Eibach Pro Truck Lift Kit

Don't touch the Bilstein pro shocks. I was highly disappointed with them. Imo go with the eibach pro kit.

What is your "mission profile?" I don't deal with looks, lol. But a suspension upgrade can definitely be functional on road as well, certainly for a vehicle without KDSS. I don't think running 3-4 trail days a year should be a big part of your decision.

The 6112/5160 might be ideal on road. This is a digressive setup though Billstein would not say specifics about the valving. I have the 6112 with Icon 2.0 rear but I have driven a stock Pro with the softer springs and 5160 and it drove extremely well in town. It had BFG and higher tire pressures so I cannot compare ride quality directly but it was a bit harsh over small bumps at low speed whereas my Icon 2.0 and P metric tires at 33 and Eibach spring are amazing. The Icon is only digressive on rebound and only mildly so.

I would say either 6112/5160 or 6112/Icon 2.0 with P metric tires would be great on road. You probably don't want to pair the 6112 with Fox 2.0, that's known to be harsher though some like that, too.

I am not a fan of 5100s though they work. But I don't think replacing just the shocks will do the trick. The springs play an important role in handling and cornering from what I have read. I also know it from my own 4R experience as I had aftermarket coils and stock shocks for about 7,000 miles.

I am very impressed with all I have read about Eibach shocks and I would surely go for those over 5100s.

In terms of durability, 6112, 5100, and Eibach are probably a wash; all with very long life expectancy for a monotube. 5160 and Icon 2.0 are more of a toss up.

The 6112 give you better customization than the other options and they also account for driver side lean. With all of them, you may get a bit different lift than expected, I would say plus or minus 0.25".

If going Eibach, I would personally use stock setting on Dobinsons lift coils in the front and the 1" Eibach shock in the rear.

Personally, I strongly dislike lifts over 2. I know several people on this forum put such lifts to excellent use in a variety of offroad terrain, but I am in the less is more camp; I have 1" all around with 3/16 armor everywhere it is needed. But that's offroad specific.

As for how a truck looks, I really don't care (unless it is damage: I do care for that!).

Edit: also, with higher lifts you alter the balance between up and down travel more and that results in harsher ride.

Will the Bilstein TRD PRO Lift Kit fit 2014 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Premium?

I've checked Toyota's site and off site:
Bilstein TRD PRO Lift Kit - Westcott Designs

They both say 2015-2020. I wonder if it fits my 2014 SR5 Prem.
Does anyone know if it fits 2014 models?

I can get 30% discount from Toyota parts so it would be cheaper for me to do so. And I'll just put a 1 inch spacer in the back, because I don't want my 4Runner to be leveled.

Suprised what they are charging for the TRD lift kit, seems inexpensive to me....

I had the Eibach kit on my SR5P 4Runner and liked the ride. Only downside for me was depending how I was parked it seemed like I had reverse rake sometimes. I always measured from ground when it looked like that and it sat level but visually it messed with my mind a little.

This is absolutely better than the eibach kit, but it only lifts around 1.5" AFAIK

That westcott is a spacer lift, they aren't selling the whole front coil over set up for $350. They are selling a thicker bottom plate for the Bilstein/TRD combo. You just get the black metal piece at the bottom of the coil. They must have a lot of confused customers with how they promote their product.

Seriously... If that was for the coilovers I would have ordered them immediately. I honest thought it was a scam

Good topic. I'm looking at getting used TRD Pro Bilstein's all the way around for my daughters SR5 '18. She does off-road and prerun with it. We're also going to replace the front bumps with Wheelers and the rear with the Gx470? bumps. We're getting the shocks pretty cheap and know it will only be a temp fix as she waits for tax return and can step up to King of Fox fully adjustables.

Eibach !!! On the road it is fantastic. Off road in Moab (the easy trails) it was great. Looks good IMHO.

Can't speak for the Eibach kit, but I'm sure it's a great riding, and quality kit. I have the TRD Bilstein coilover upfront + Toytec 1inch perch and so far pretty happy with it. It rides much better than the 5100 shocks @ .85 with the stock springs. In the rear I have the Bilstein 5160 with Eibach 1inch springs. I think it's totally worth it if you have a chance to get the TRD Pro Bilstein setup in good condition, fairly low miles, and at a good price below what the Eibach kit would cost new. If they were same price, I think I'd still go with the TRD Bilsteins for the better shocks, but would have to be in really good shape, and really low miles (practically brand new). I don't think I would pay any more than what a new Eibach kit goes for though

What I have equates to a 2F\1R lift from a stock non-Pro trim compared to the Eibach which is 2.5-2.75F\1R lift. Tires are 285\70\17s
