Engine shutoff when off camber

I've had my engine shut off about 10x when playing on big hills (dunes). I am assuming it is based on the angle I'm in as it shuts off mid climbing and can start right back up with a key. Anyone else experience this? Is there a fix or workaround?

I've had my fuel gauge reading go from about 1/2 tank, down to showing I'm empty on the steeps, but I have never had the engine shut off ect....Sounds like the engine may be getting starved of fuel temporarily...

Possibly... i guess. I was at about 1/2 tank at the time (slightly over). Doing the same climb and duplicating the issue each time (intentionally to try to figure out what it is).

Basically I was going up steep sand that rides into a vertical cliff. I was going up and left and letting the rig top out (get to a point where it can’t go no further) and then turning left and riding it down... It would cut out the second I was turning left basically horizontal with the uphill at about 45 degrees.

Thing is... I’ve done much much more aggressive shit with my Jeep and never had that issue...

Most new cars now have a roll over sensor to cut the fuel supply in case of an accident. They put that in as a safety measure to prevent a fire. That could be what is happening here. Don't know how to delete it though.

Im surprised no one else has experienced this... maybe I should make a 4runner trip and test out others myself.

Just to be clear...does the engine shut off requiring you to restart it? Or is something else, like a momentary lose of power that quickly returns?

Nevermind, you say start back up with a key..I'm thinking electrical gremlin...

I've never had mine shut off. And I've had it to the angle where the front tires are lifting off the ground going up and on steep enough down hills that the rear tires came off the ground for a minute (didn't know until I saw a video after the fact that it was so close to going end-over). Not sure I could go any further in either direction without actually going end/over. So it is unusual to have it cut out. Haven't flopped it - so I'm not sure on how far sideways it'll go before cutting out or if it would run on its side.

I'm guessing it's the fuel pump running out of supply or something unusual with your setup.

Also - I have had mine go into a limp mode where it cuts the throttle heavily and applies the brakes. When I used to run full rear air suspension if I maxed it out on height and went around a corner too fast it would think I was going to roll over and go crazy. I was just playing around with it when it happened and it caught me by surprise how aggressively it took over. But it didn't turn the engine off. Just shut down the power.

I have had this thing in very weird angles and never experienced this either when rock crawling or going up/down ruts. It came as a surprise to me as this was my first time just messing around on dunes. Maybe this was a newer version of limp mode (have a 2019)? Engine stopped reving completely until I restart it with key. I tough to pay attention to what brakes were doing as I was in deep sand. I was probably going no more than 6-10 MPH when it cut and very high in the RPM's.

Now that I had some time to think and hear opinions... I'll go out in a few weeks and find a dune to replicate and see whats up.
