Michelin
Michelin.
LTX M/S2 - I’ve used 4 sets over many years - a great street tire.
LTX Defender M/S - new model, gets good reviews.
LTX A/T2 - got them now, working well. Look more aggressive, louder than M/S2s

Options? Opinions?

Same situation here as I’m from RI as well. I use my 4wd for the snow in the winter and the sand out on East Beach. I found the stock Bridgestones to be pretty good even though most people here hate them. They’ve been good in the snow, great in the sand and I’m getting pretty good gas mileage as well. On a recent 600 mile trip to the mountains of Pennsylvania and back, I averaged 22.5mpg.

^ This.
The AT2 has an average real life of 90,000 miles per Discount Tire store data. This is incredible.
My all terrain tires, any of them, are worthless offroad after 30k. In fact, 25k is a more realistic number.
But with street and sand use, the AT2s should indeed last forever.
I would consider them myself if they were better suited to SW desert terrain.
OR:
Nokian. Nokian AT or HT. Fantastic in rain and in snow. Doubt they will last anywhere near the Michelins but would bet on higher performance (without having used either!).

On my wife's 2016, we went with the BFG Advantage TA Sport LT. I loved the tires for the year we had them. Great wet weather, snow, and gravel, dirt traction. I think the are "three peak" rated. We traded for a 2019 TRD OR yesterday, so we are back to factory tires for a while.

Check the Nokian Rotiiva AT Plus. Outstanding snow performance, quiet, and wearing quite well. You can get the 275/70/17 in C-Load too.

I agree - pretty good in the snow and sand, but not on muddy clay banks pulling my heavy 16' jon boat out of the water. I got rid of them before 30k. Discount Tire gave me $20 each with the dried clay still on the sidewalls.
The Michelin Defenders are a big step up in every category and have 12/32" tread with a good pattern. Now I don't even spin a tire - not even a little - pulling the boat up the hill - 3 61-pound batteries, my 200-pound buddy, cooler, 8 bass rods, carpet, 2 nice seats, too many tackle boxes, etc.

This is a big step up from the 1986 Subaru GL wagon I used on the Outer Banks beaches for 14 years. That thing would go anywhere in the sand on 185/70-13 tires. Dual range 5 speed, factory skid plate, 3 position manually adjustable rear shocks and armored exhaust. All factory, including the white spoke wheels. The front sub frame finally rusted apart.

Hey neighbor,
I’m down on east beach quite a bit, fishing. Usually on weekend evenings. Shoot me a PM if you want to get together. I live in Charlestown.
The larger bass should be heading back down soon!

That’s great! On all my sets I usually hit the 5-6 year point and replace them due to age rather than miles.

That's actually what happened. I had about 10k left in them, but the age made me replace. I was secretly hoping to get 100k out of them! : ))

i know you said no AT, but i would give the falken wildpeak AT3W a good look. Ive got them on mine and they are super quiet, supposedly handle very well in snow etc.

Another option is the hankook dynapro atm. I highly recommend them. I switched to Dick Cepek for a more aggressive tread, otherwise I would have bought another set of the dynapro.
