CV axles angle up on stock suspension???

Was changing my oil last night at 50k and noticed that my CV axles angle up to the wheel hub rather than straight across or down as people often see with a lift. I've never noticed this before and wondering if this is normal? Are my springs shot already? Is this an alignment issue with the cam adjusters?

You can see from the pictures the LCA has very minimal up travel before making contact with bump stops.

This is my 3rd gen for comparison (having approx. 2" lift from stock).

Yep. I noticed the same thing a few years ago

It makes you feel better about having them flex the same amount downwar, afterward when you’re done lifting.

Those CV boots are tough

TO OP: yes, CV axles angle up on stock suspension. This has been the case since 4th gen of 4Runner (since 2003), so there is no problem with your truck...
2" lift makes CV axles almost parallel to the ground

Thanks for the confirmation @nb_rob and @progress4m

I tried to do a diligent search before asking, but only found people wanting to know about the CV angles post suspension lift.

it's not only a very valid question, but you phrased it such that future searchers will immediately discover their answer.

have a great weekend

Good to know, wanting to get a King setup and wasn't wanting to go past 2" to keep the ride nice and not stress the suspension components more than need be. It's amazing how much more static clearance I have on the 3rd gen and how much easier it is to crawl up under the truck to work on vs the 5th gen.

X2 on this, those are exact reasons I did 2.1" inch lift on mine, did not want to push it more than that!
