Respectfully disagree. When I first drove my 5th Gen off the lot on a test drive, I thought "This is so much like my FJ-60!" With a lot more power, torque, and nice stuff, of course. But the interior dimensions, controls, etc. are very 60'ish to me. Which is good, because that's the FJ* I most regret selling.

That would be the Disco - or most any British car.

When I lived in the UK, I test drove a new Disco, 3 door with the awful blue interior. The dealer said "take it down this trail" that was a farm trail. On the way back, we hit a pothole and one of the taillights fell off.

The car had about 40 miles on it at the time.

Stupid title. The 5th gen 4Runner is the modern day 4Runner. Youtube vloggers are running out of content ideas.

Owning a british vehicle sounds nice until you own a british vehicle.

Oh god. This is the moment when I F'dup. I got called a YouTube vlogger.

My videos are usually supplemental to articles I publish to various sites. Sometimes stand along for motorsport reasons or personal ones.

But YouTube vlogging? Not what I want to be in.

I traded my ‘99 disco for my new 4Runner. This is my very first Toyota and I will admit that I’m very impressed with its off-road prowess. My disco was very reliable and it was a lot more comfortable on the highway. I traded it in with 196,000 miles and it was still running strong. I think both vehicles are great and I respect what each rig has to offer. If I could get a rover with the reliability of a Yota it would be a difficult decision for me.

I've owned a couple of LRs, 03 Disco II and an 08 Range Rover Sport Super Charged. Both at the same time. Prior to those two I had an 08 FJ Cruiser and then a 4th Gen 04 4Runner. I didn't necessarily give up my LRs for another 4Runner, but I'm definitely glad I'm back in a Toyota. Both my LRs had issues. The D2, sold at 155k, had an issue from the factory, misaligned oil pump. There are fixes for it, but basically you just rebuild the front end every 50k miles. As well as all the sensors that go bad over time. The RRS SC, sold at 88k, had the typical little things go bad here and there...rear soft close latch broke, had to rebuild the SLS compressor, HID headlamps module went bad, their version of KDSS...forget what it's called...needed to be fixed when I bought it (used), was still under warranty so that was a plus. I liked them both and still to today look at well sorted used ones for a good price that I might be able to snag up. They are great off roaders but I wouldn't say the 4Runner is the new LR. Like mentioned up top...the New 4Runner is a New 4Runner. LRs have become a nightmare for the common dude to work on anymore. At least for me. It's that vehicle the well off can afford to buy and pay someone to fix when it breaks. I know many owners who still like to work on them, who buy new, and do as much as they can, but it's too much to deal with. I would love to get a used 2018 Disco 5 diesel in a few years, but I don't want air suspension. The L320 platform is nice, I know some guys swap the air bag suspension for coil overs and LR dudes pitch a fit cuz "why did you buy a LR with air suspension if you're gonna take it out". Cuz I want a reliable off-roader is why. Anyway, the answer I say is NO. The TRD Pro is not a Disco 1.

You sound like the exact group for this thread then.

Now that LR has released a new Disco, can we talk about it instead?

Or maybe we can not talk about it and talk about the 4R more instead.
