Seat Belt Retractors/TwistingBelts

The seat belt retractors in my 2018 SR5 seem weak. Takes a lot of tugging to get the belt to fully take up the slack when exiting the vehicle. My 2002 Tacoma TRD was the same way. With years of experience between the two, I’m used to it but it can be irritating at times. A common Toyota trait? Any suggestions other than replace?

Seat belt related as well, what is it about the seatbelt that makes it want to twist. I cannot make it stay flat across my shoulder, which can make injuries worse in a crash. It seems worse with a neck pad installed. The belt is positioned correctly for me on the wall.
