This KIA? It's BOF.

Bronco should be too. Not sure about the others - they're rumors right now.

My wife has a Hyundai Tucson that sucks so hard. I'll never buy another Korean car. The thing feels like its going to stall anytime you're making a slow left or driving up a hill slowly (like our driveway).
It feels like you're driving a manual with the clutch half engaged while in first gear.. or there's a fuel injection problem.
Every time we take it in we're told this is normal behavior of a dual clutch.
Fuuuuuuuuck Hyundai/Kia.

Looks to be competing in the land rover segment, that "sport/street" SUV segment, not so much "hard core off-road" segment.

It is essentially a Hyundai Telluride. KIA and Hyundai are the same company. This is a Grand Cherokee competitor, not a 4Runner.
And I am not getting my hopes over the Bronco as the Ford Ranger was a big letdown.

I buy Toyota.......Bronco- FORD, GC-Dodge, Majave-KIA= NO! I say refresh the 4Runner by tweaking the 4.0 and a 6-speed and some chassis and body mods to make it MORE Off-Road worthy and leave the UniPussies to the Mall Crawling. Move the 4Runner FURTHER from the crowd to retain it's rugged form and cool factor.....NOT toward the cross-over mentality.

The Hyundai version of the Telluride is the new Palisade, and they are both unibody. This is a different type of vehicle - BOF.

I'd wager the average buyer couldn't care less, if they even knew the difference to begin with.
I know the difference, and I don't really even care. BOF did not factor in my decision to buy a 4R, reliability and interior space did. There are plenty of older unibody Jeeps that will outwheel these things, and it's not like the BOF gives it a best in class tow rating either.
It's a Toyota, the frame is just one more thing to rot out, LOL.
Also, IMO the 4Liter isn't that great. Yeah, I'm getting decent mpg with it, but it sounds like garbage and has no low end torque. I'd RATHER a turbo 4, because most of them are tuned for great torque these days.

Another reason to go Toy IS the BOF because it lends itself to mods and aftermarket support that comes with being Off-Road capable. I bought my 5th Gen because my previous PU's and 4Runner were Tough, easy to fix when rarely needed and had tons of mods available. There isn't another truck in this class that is better overall than the 4Runner.

My 2014 sorento started out great. Then the a/c would start freezing up and freeze the blower motor, the back up camera rusted out, the ambient temp sensor rusted out, it started having wheel bearing issues, and the steering controls for the radio started getting electrical gremlins. Not to mention you have to take half the engine apart (intake, intake manifold, etc.) to change spark plugs.
Good thing I recently trade it in for a new 19 4runner. I lost money on it but I'm so happy to be out of the kia.

A lot of talk about adding a 6 spd transmission. They did that in the 3rd gen Taco and everyone hates it (I owned a 2016 Tacoma for 2.5 years) 2nd gen is better.
I am sure the 5th gen 4R will be more desirable than the 6th gen. Just like the 3rd gen is better than the 4th gen and the 5th gen is better than the 4th gen. Seems like every other year is a hit. 1 2 3 4 (meh) 5
I hate to say it but I’m sure Toyota will mess up the next gen for us enthusiasts. I’m sure it’ll be more appealing to the masses with less focus on us. I’m fine with the 5th gen running another 3-4 years.
Look at what the ZR2 did to the 3rd gen Taco, hurt nothing as for sales. For every 1 ZR2 sold there are 3 Tacos sold. (Something like that)Toyota’s sell. I doubt any of these vehicles will actually put pressure on Toyota.
