I am looking for the cleanest, most stock looking option that includes carplay and don't need the CD/ DVD. Alpine, Kenwood and Pioneer all have good options- is there one of these that is a clear cut winner for a 2012 4Runner SR5?

Nope. They're all good. Go to Crutchfield. Put in your year and trim. Take a look at the reviews. Pick the one you think works best for you.

I have the 10.5 and I wish I had put the scosche mounts closer to the center screen because the iPad doesn't have full contact with the magnets. It still holds up fine though. I don't do heavy off-roading so I don't know how it would hold up in some of the more extreme conditions.

is this clean enough? I went with the black Metra kit. The color seemed to match the rest of the dash on my TRD OffRoad

What bugs on the T9? I haven't seen any mentioned on that model yet.

It looks better on that color trim, but I have an early model so it's still the silver, which looks worse with blank space.

Ok, since I've only seen a couple options as to things to mount or switches for the dash kit, let's look at another angle. How many of you have wrapped or painted/plastidipped your dash kit something other than the factory colors? I've been looking at different brushed metal vinyl wraps but I would have to go the full route if I did that (all the trim pieces, center console, etc)

Scosche dash kit on mine with plasti-dipped black surround to reduce the visual width of the open silver on the sides.

That's really a good idea. Easy way to reduce the 'visual width' as you put it. I'll do that if I get a new head unit.

Damn, that's a really good idea. I think that's the best option I've seen yet. How does the silver color of the kit match up with the factory silver trim?

This is a great idea! I hate the huge silver space and was holding off on going aftermarket partially because of it. This still isn’t ideal, but does look quite a bit better to my eyes. I’ll go this route if I move to an aftermarket headunit.
