Just wait for them.
I have all 3 of the premium red/white set ups, and they are the car's whiskers.

Wow those look really good!
I did my own setup, its a beta job to see if i like them, i do and they are lasting longer then expected.
Essentially its a roll of led lights, backed with 3m extra strength adhesive.
Super bright and turn on normally woth the hatch opening. I just jumped the wires for the hatch lights.

Get the premium set up. Once you try them in the hatch, you will want that kind of lighting in the front an middle too, and the red lights are great at night wehn driving, or when out and you want to keep the bugs at bay.

I went with the board cause for the little bit of extra cost its almost twice the output. Here's some pics from my Tundra for comparisons since I never got any of the 4Runner before it got totaled a couple weeks ago. Also,
@ pointman
, if you have kids red is the way to go,cause if they fall asleep in the car at night its not as harsh and wont wake them up.

According to the website, the light output for the HP6 is 130 lumens and the SMD12 board is 118 lumens but you're saying the board is 2 times as bright? Strange...
From the picture, the wiring for the board does not look the same as the HP6 bulb...how is installed? It just looks like the type of connection for the map lights up front (if that makes any sense).

My bad, I was looking at the door lights when I told you that, its options are the HP3 (56 lumens) or the SMD12 Board (118 Lumens) with that hatch light being the HP6 I'm surprised its not super bright. The board installs using a festoon style connector seen below
