Best/Comfy way of exiting 4Runner
Trust me this thread seems as dumb to me as it will to you but give me a second of your time. This is my first taller vehicle in quite some time, I previously had a Mustang GT, and my winter was a 04 Nissan Frontier which was at stock height and years ago I had a lift TJ. The Mustang was easy brace on the door frame and kinda roll/ get out, Nissan was throw leg out and get out
Jeep had such stiff seats it was grab roll bar pivot and your out. But the new 4Runner has been stumping me, I cant throw my leg out and step out due to the step as I will wack my head, so I have been kinda swinging my body around placing both feet on steps and popping out but all you long term owners must have some different/better ways of exiting and entering.

I stick my left leg out, on the ground, and then step out. I'm kinda tall tho. Results may vary.

Easy. left foot on running board, then right root on ground, and finally left foot on ground.

As a shorter person I slide out. Left leg out the door and slide down to the ground. This can wear the seat out so I also try to put a little hop in it using my right leg.
Getting in I hop in and grab the steering wheel.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone gonna keep just popping out like I have been, this is the first vehicle I have had with running boards and honestly I think this is whats messing me up. The jeep was in general super easy to pop out of but had rocker guards rather then rails so nothing to catch on or place your foot on which made it so much easier to grab the roll bar and just pop out.

Sounds like a fantastic reason to buy sliders.

I actually found it easier to get in/out without the running boards. The height was just at an awkward level to make sense using, and when getting out, I would just bypass them, sometimes causing me to rub my leg against it, getting dirt and grime on my pants. I pulled them off and have been happy since, though my wife isn't as happy.

I saw a mod to add another handle on the a pillar similar to the passenger side. Might be something worth looking into.

This thread is hilarious but in a good way..recently purchased a set of running boards off a trail pro and figured they'd be a great addition, especially for my wife.I'm average height and didn't have any issues getting in and out without them, now it's almost like I have to think about it when I'm climbing in, and I usually bypass them entirely..while I like them to be able to access the roof, the wife definitely isn't sold, so they may be coming off in the near future.

They are honestly in my way but I keep them for my elderly Mom so she can get in. She's 5 ft and needs them. I'm 5'11 and can get in without them.
