tightening a side view mirror

my 2018 SR5 side view mirror is really loose, I was wondering if there is a way to tighten it up? I see a little panel under the mirror and was thinking of trying to pop it off and see if there is a screw I can turn to tighten it up. I know most panels/trim and such just pop off but I don't want to pry anything before I know in fact it does pop off. any ideas?

Is it the actual mirror panel that is loose?
If you purchased this vehicle new, I would take it back to the dealer and let them fix it under warranty. A year old OEM mirror should not be vibrating.
If you purchased used, there is a chance this is an aftermarket mirror. Just about all aftermarket replacement mirrors vibrate.

Is it loose between the door and the hinge?
If so there are 3 nuts holding to the door easy to tighten with out pulling off the door panel.

Or is the mirror loose at the hinge where it pivots?

If that's that case, no there is no screw to tighten. It's connected with a spring and a retaining nut. It could have popped off and is loose, but I don't think that's very likely given how tight the spring is. It could be broken. Best way to see is to pull the mirror glass out and pop the back cover off and take a look and see what the deal is.

Are there any threads on removing the side mirror glass? I see a million on removing the whole thing but not just the mirror.

Went through the car wash today and realized my passenger side mirror is still connected, still power operates but is very loose and does not hold its “pulled out” “pushed in” position.

Post #3 on this thread shows how to do it: Rav4 blind spot mirror swap? multiple part numbers?

Easy to do. Just remove the front cover, pull off the wires for heated mirrors, and pop off the mirror glass. I replaced my mirrors with the RAV4 blind spot mirrors as shown in this thread.

Great thank you!

Hopefully nothing is broken in there, i feel like someone nailed my mirror and damaged something while parked on the street, but i don't see any visible damage so its difficult to tell. right now the mirror stays in place but its lost all its stiffness when pushed out of its standard every day driving position.

I replaced my drivers side mirror , think the part was only $180 and dealer quoted $500 or so with labor. It was a 5 minute job , didnt have to remove the entire door trim just enough to get a socket in there. It was held on by 3 bolts, so just gradually pull back the panel enough till you can get a socket in there and tighten.

You should be able to snap it back in place assuming that the clips are still good. I had some asshat hit my mirror and knock the glass loose before and I was able to snap it back in place, there are 4 sets of clips, make sure to push all around the middle of the glass.

Any chance you remember where you bought it from? i have not had a chance to pull the mirror apart to look at it, but the way it moves around i'll bet i'll need to replace it. I would prefer to get OEM so i can pull off my white mirror housing and then snap it onto the new one.

4Runner Sequential LED Turn signal Mirror from CarTrimHome - YouTube

I followed this video when installing my cartrimhome replacement mirrors. If you have a premium model with turn signals in your mirrors, it’s just two extra wires to connect and you’ll have sequential turn signal leds in the glass part.
