2019 TRD Pro Fox Suspension on 2020 TRD-Off-Road

Hello all,

I am getting an amazing trade in value for my 2019 VooDoo blue so I decided to trade it in for a 2020 TRD Off Road - Magnetic Gray. Yes I enjoyed the Pro trim and now going away for it for a couple of reasons: VooDoo super nice but too loud and the 2020 interior and Tech upgrades are too hard to pass on. Selecting a TRD Off Road due to cheaper price ($11K Canadian difference between the 2020 Pro and 2020 TRD Off Road) plus I can re-use my OEMAudioPlus system in the TRD-Off-Road.

Anyways, I really loved the ride quality of the Fox suspension so have decided to buy a set and install it on 2020 TRd Off Road /w KDSS. No other changes.

Has anyone done this already? Do you advise against it because of the KDSS? If not, if the install process straight forward? I think some people have done this with the Belsien Pro system.

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thank you

It'll work fine, there are better aftermarket options out there but if that's the ride quality you like then I say go for it.

Side note, you already picked your 2020 ORP up? Mine's been at port for like 3 weeks now with no movement in the US, lucky you!

I have to ask, is it true Canadian 2020s get dual zone climate control standard across all trims, i.e. does yours have it? (Pics please!)

The only difference of interior features between a 2020 TRD OFF ROAD and a 2019 TRD OFF ROAD are push start and the screen, the dials are still the same unlike the one in 2020 TRD PRO and limited edition if that's what you care about.

Fox kit runs $2200 USD from the dealer. FAR from worth it. Seems people with used takeoffs think they're gold plated also and ask way too much for them. Spend your $ on something better. If you plan to lift it, don't buy the OEM Fox kit at all since there are nothing but problems when you start messing with them.

I posted Canadian detailed specs in the 2020 Pro post that has been the most active in recent days. according to it, all trims get an auto climate control and push button start and key less entry.

No mine is arriving in the first or the second week of OCT according to my dealer. He secured one already but now waiting for VIN number.

I PM'd a fellow member on this forum who did the fox-pro install on 19 TRDOR. according to him it was problematic due to different hight/lengh of the front fox suspensions... not being compatible with KDSS because it gives a crazy lean on the passenger side. this makes me worry as he advised against it. he managed my putting a cornfed spacer on the passenger side... but still suffering by a slight lean on the rear passenger side. his solution was to put a 1/4 inch spacer on the rear passenger side. A heads up from him after going through the experience. What has been your experience if you have done the fox pro install on TRDOR-with-KDSS?

many thanks

appreciate the input. my requirements are as follows (1) no lift i the back (2) i could use 1 or 1.5 inch lift in the front for better looks. not looking to put big tires. and (3) most importantly comfy ride - i love how the OEM TRD Fox perform.

any setup meets the above, i would be open for it. I thought ProFox would be straight swap.

From my understanding, you can't add any lift at all to the front with the FOX suspension. The shocks are short, they bottom out and ride like crap if you mess with them. I have no first hand experience but that is what I have seen posted.

got you. thx. slight clarification. i gave the three requirements to go with the non-Pro-Fox setup. with the pro-Fox I was not aiming for any (additional) lift.

KDSS lean will need to be corrected with any aftermarket suspension system. You can find guides on how to fix it, Land Cruisers have the same system and there's quite a few videos and articles on it. Other options are switching the springs out for Dobinsons KDSS offset springs, or adding a spacer. I personally would try to correct the system itself before using hardware to balance it out, but that's just me.

Eibach has said in another thread they are working on replacement front coils for a small lift, and Jason Burtman has a number of pictures of 2019 Pros with his spacers.. no idea on ride quality.

Burtman spacers are Cornfed spacers. I guess he's a dealer for them. They do offer small spacers but I have seen a lot of people take them out after install due to horrible ride quality.

Good to know! I was looking at them and wondering the difference as they are cheaper on the Cornfed website.
