Morimoto M-LED Retro Quik Headlights

Just putting a call out there to see if anyone has any experience with the Morimoto M-LED RetroQuik kit, either installing it yourself or as part of an aftermarket retrofit.

I'm considering taking the plunge at some point soon. I'm not totally in love with the idea of cracking the headlight housings myself but it doesn't look terribly hard, and there's a 5 year warranty. I'm also not a fan (sorry LED humor haha) of the color temp at 5900k, but the demo photos don't look terribly blue. The fact that they'd replace both low and high beams leaves the current DRL / HB spot open for something creative like additional auxillary forward lighting. I would most likely go ahead and spring for all new (used) housings so that I can easily revert to OEM if necessary.

Here's the link at TRS - Retro-Quik: Toyota 4Runner (14-18) - Complete Retrofit Kits from The Retrofit Source

Anyone?

I'm in the middle of this retrofit right now

I've done several retrofits, getting these headlights open was the worst I've ever dealt with. Definite learning curve. The quick retro kit itself is pretty straight forward.

Any chance of output shots after you get them installed? Curious to see how these project.

I bought the quik-retro kit but I plan on ordering a set of DEPO lights to open instead of opening my oem lights as I've heard it's a pain.

I can post when I finish, I'm also doing the chip flip mod.

I bought a set of TYC OEM replacement headlights and they also had the permaseal, it sucked!

Perfect! Obviously I want to hear all about it once you get things set up. Any elaboration you might be able to give on the headlight seals would be great too. Thanks man.

I bought some cheap Ebay lights. I tried to bake them apart. I ended destroying the plastic from trying to pry them open after baking in the oven because the plastic was so soft.

Welp that's a bummer haha. I guess my retro-quik kit is going to stay in the box for a little while longer. I did a pair of Altima headlights once with permaseal and it made me never want to open a pair of headlights ever again....

Here's the BiLed2 in the TYC lights.
See the 2nd to last pic.
Headlight comparison stock vs others
Kustom54 sells them this way, that's where I got mine

Unfortunately I don't have any output shots as I had to pack up my retrofit parts and headlights while I was moving and haven't been able to touch them in the last few months as we were buying and selling a house. The latest pic that I have was when I was mounting the high beam projectors into the high beam sockets, but you can see the MLED 2.0s after I had switched from the original MLED projectors that I was all set to use. Here's a pic of everything I have mounted together. I'm just waiting to get time to pull these out and get the permaseal off the housings and I'm ready to seal them up.

Sorry for the thread resurrection but do you have any updates on your retrofit? From the picture it looks like you did what I want to do. Mled 2 for low/ highs and the Morimoto mini hb for the highs. Oh and how bad were the TYC headlights to disassemble? The only retrofit I have done was on my 2016 Ford Fusion. The permaseal on those headlights sucked.

The permaseal on the TYC headlights freaking SUCKED! I don't have any updates as we bought a house and my retro was packed up in a box when we moved. I hopefully should have some updated pics in a few weeks. And yes that is the MLED 2.0's and the Mini HB's. I did have to modify the high beam holes to get the HB's to fit as they would not fit originally
