"The 4Runner is far from a modern day anything."
Thank goodness. I had auto air on a number of vehicles. It's okay.
My Trail has great auto ventilation - 5 windows that roll down automatically at the push of a button and a sun roof too. Now if I could take the doors off.
Even my wife has come around in the past few years - it used to be about comfort and style and now it's more about function. Week before last we spent every day out on the beach in the soft sand. I'd surf fish some and my wife would take long walks looking for shells in the areas where trucks are banned - like the inlet side of the south point of Ocracoke. I think she's finally beginning to understand the finer differences in 4WD/AWD systems and tire pressure and such after years of seeing a variety of vehicles either fully stuck or trying to plow their way through the sugar sand and pea gravel with hard tires. She used to ask about why somebody was making sand rooster tails and why we never drove in the surf like some people. She never once said anything about wanting auto A/C like her Avalon.
She also seems to be getting a feel for how much stuff she likes to take to the beach - two sand chairs, small umbrella, lunch, wine, and all of my fishing gear and recovery gear of course. I think it was Tuesday when she started pointing out larger vehicles that she liked.
My luck, every single one she liked was a dark Suburban. I finally spotted a Land Cruiser and she thought it was just ok. Keeping the T4R unless I buy a bigger boat.
