Entune Premium and Bluetooth connectivity

Struggling here.. 2019 ORP with Entune Premium, non-JBL. Using an iPhone Xr with latest software. My Bluetooth will connect to Entune for phone calls but will only connect about 10% of the time to stream music. Typical message is “Bluetooth not Connected”. Have fully reset the connection, etc. but nothing has helped the issue.

Any fixes? Perhaps there is an Entune update?

I had the same issues with a galaxy s9. I think the issue is inherent to entune, not the phone. My solution was to swap the unit out with a Kenwood DNX996XR with android auto and carplay. The entune system is garbage and imo just not worth keeping

Glad I'm not the only one. The most recent entune update really messed up my bt connectivity. 80% of the time it connects no problem the other 20% it connects and the music or podcast comes in all choppy and I end up having to turn my phone's airplane mode on and off and it resolves itself.

Thanks for the reply. Tried flipping airplane mode on/off a couple of times but no dice. Not interested in dropping a grand on a head unit replacement right now, though the Kenwood decks are where it’s at!

I’ll be at the dealer tomorrow and will check with them for an update.

Are you using the entune app, and is it open while attempting to connect? I've had very few issues with mine. Good luck with yours.

it sometimes connects and sometimes it doesn't...that's when i get the audio chopping sound issue.

I am having a similar issue. Never had a problem with Bluetooth in my 2014 until yesterday. Now all of a sudden the phone is not showing as available on my bluetooth menu in the head unit settings. And, the T4R is not showing as available on my phone list. Tried all the reset tricks. The strange thing is that I will get a pairing request note on my phone every 30 seconds from the T4R with a different passcode each time. If I select "ok" the bluetooth connection will not do anything.

I have a friend with a spare head unit however it does not have the entune module.

Is the bluetooth system integrated into the head unit or the entune module?

I have been battling this issue in my 2013 SR5 for months. I connect my phone to the truck, start Spotify, put it in drive, about 45 seconds later, the music stops playing. My phone is a Note9 and the HU just says "STOPPED". The connection setting shows that bluetooth is OFF and I am not able to restart the bluetooth without restarting the truck. Any ideas? I already updated the software to the version recommended by Toyota, still nothing. I read in a different thread to remove the fuse for the HU from under the hood, and leave it out for a minimum of 4 hours. I will try that overnight and see if that works. Will keep you posted. Has anyone ever successfully fixed this issue without spending a TON of money on a new HU?

Throwing this out there for possible troubleshooting, just to eliminate a potential issue.

I haven't had trouble with my 2018 4Runner, but my last rig (Xterra with an aftermarket head unit) HATED when I would start playing something from a streaming service (Pandora, Google Music, or Apple Podcast app) while I was in the garage/driveway and the phone was connected to Wifi. Same problem leaving work. For some reason, when my phone lost connection to the Wifi it struggled to transition to wireless data, so I would drive 1/2 block away and lose audio and sometimes not be able to get it back... Never had issues with the bluetooth connection though. The phone would say it was playing still, but no sound from the stereo.
