What rti doesn't show is balance of weight and body control. Kdss is >>> pro in that metric.
I'm sure the Pro is much better in stock form for desert high speeds. The fox shocks are much much more capable of dampening and managing the heat buildup compared to the stock shocks on the other models. No question about that. I swapped out the shocks on my trail edition almost immediately for Fox shocks. I'd love to have a chance to drive back to back in my KDSS/Fox 2.5 setup and the TRD Pro fox suspension. I really want to give the Bilstein 8100 setup a shot, but it's just too $$ for my commuter car. Maybe if I buy a LC200 I'll go with those?

"Someone claimed that kdss had a better RTI rating compared to the pro. I linked test for both the pro and a kdss 4runner. There isn't any buts. Since you want to cherry pick I provided two screenshots. It doesn't say what degree RTI but I'll just assume it's the 20 degrees."
Why you talking to me, huh? Put it back it your shorts and come back to reality.
Let's see, I clicked the posted link, read the review of the vehicles tested, and quoted the part that surprised me - that the 4Runner did better in the sand than the Rubicon. That's it. Real simple.
So what the flaming heck are you talking about? I didn't cherry pick squat. I wasn't even talking to you. Sheesh. Some people.

This 2016 TEP w/KDSS is a big step up from the 1986 Subaru GL wagon I used on the Outer Banks beaches for 14 years. That thing would go anywhere in the sand on 185/70-13 tires. Dual range 5 speed, factory skid plate, 3 position manually adjustable rear shocks and armored exhaust. All factory, including the white spoke wheels. The front sub frame finally rusted apart.

Lol Noobs assuming their data is apples to apples and a trd pro would legit score almost double any other 4runner's RTI.
Then switches topics when he hears the 30 degree ramp changed to 20 degree from 2014 2019.
And other lil chump not admitting his wrongitudinal aligment. lol.
Noobs gon' noob.

No, the KDSS isn't 'locked up' at high speed. It if were locked up, the ride would be very stiff, as the sway bar wouldn't be able to move, and it would transmit road imperfections to the driver and make for an unpleasant ride.
The sway bar is still working against hydraulic pressure, but still is able to move.
At lower speeds on road, it helps mitigate things like the nose dive that non-KDSS equipped 4Runners have when running the stock suspension.
And off road, they hydraulic system allows for more articulation. But because the piston shaft only has so much distance it can move before damage, KDSS equipped vehicles are limited to 3" to prevent damage, and long travel lifts are also not recommended fro the same reason.
This video, although it's a LC, is still applicable to the 4Runner, as the system works the same. As you can see during the slalom part, the KDSS mitigates body roll much better than a standard sway bar. Therefor it's not working like a 'standard sway bar'.

Disclaimer: This is a seat of the pants recollection from April 2019 when I test drove a 2019 TRD Off Road Premium without KDSS, one with KDSS, and then finished off with a TRD Pro all in the same day. I recall the KDSS cornered flatter and didn't seem to dive as bad under heavy braking at the expense of a slightly harsher ride than the non KDSS equipped one. It also felt more solid. Again, my impressions from driver and passenger seat. To me, the most comfortable ride was the TRD Pro, especially over bumps, in a straight line. This, is of course, at the expense of more body roll and brake dive than the others. The TRD Pro was the Weebles of the bunch. However, once my wife heard she could get Army Green on a TRD Pro, any of hopes of good handling went out the window haha

I didn't read the thread, but my KDSS TE is definitely more comfortable and the ladies swarm around it continuously, especially when I turn party mode on.

way I see it KDSS is awesome if you don't plan on lifting on a budget, and if you don't live in a cold climate.
Here in chicago, I hated KDSS in the winter; it making the ride jittery.

I don’t notice the cold affecting kdss, and it’s winter for 5 months here.

I don't have time to read through 4 pages of KDSS comfort related comments, but my 2 cents is that KDSS on washboard dirt roads = no comfy...

Only if you don't air down. Which you're supposed to regardless of KDSS unless you want your struts to overheat and die prematurely.
I hear ya tho. Airing down sucks. Wish every 4x4 used that central inflating hub trick that the military Hummer has. Auto air-up/down would be so nice.
