Weight distribution, ideally you want everything in between the axles or as close to them as you can get. If you put enough weight on the hitch the front of the vehicle will raise up as the vehicle pivots on the rear axle. The further behind the axle that weight is the more leverage it has to pivot the front up. Getting it further forward reduces the front end lift for a given amount of weight behind the axle.

whether or not this guy is behind on his messages is irrelevant, the actions constitute fraud. billing customers, not delivering, not communicating and no refunding is illegal regardless of intent in every state and province in north america. if you really want your money back the only real option you have is file a small claims suit. how worth it is it to you to hire a lawyer that's familiar with local law to go and do this on your behalf? is the loser of the case required to pay all legal fees in the jurisdiction this case is held? if not, don't waste your time, in just 2 hrs of work your legal fees will exceed the recoverable amount. you're probably out a few hundred $ I'd bet, honestly at this point it's a sunk cost and a lesson learned

Detours of Maine contact info

Hey
I wanted to purchase a tire swing from detours of Maine but can’t find any contact info. Tried to message on Facebook but the message won’t send. Is the guy still in business? Anyone have any info to help?

Hopefully he took all his contact stuff off because he isn't taking orders so he can catch up. In a perfect world that is what he would have done.

I would suggest you initiate a fraud complaint with your CC, you may be outside the window though due to the time involved. Sounds like this turkey may have defrauded you.

no more FB

To add to the thread, I just noticed that Mark has just recently deleted his Detours of Maine Facebook page. This was the only way I used to get a reply from him every now and then. The regular website is still up, but there is of course no "contact" info or option given. Pretty lame.

Sounds like he Detoured out of Maine.

The nicest one, imo, is the CTNewman above. SSO, Southern Style Off-road has taken over the design and is planning on building these for production.
I made my own hitch mount spare tire carrier.

It looks like his main site page is down as of today as well. If anyone knows an address for the business to possibly explore legal action in small claims court please share.

If you search other forums, he’s been doxxed. Full name and two addresses. That was earlier today so I would guess the removal of the webpage is in response to that
