iphone windshield mount above mirror

I am searching for a suitable mount for an iphone XS Max that would put it above the rear view mirror. Planning to use it as a display for an OBDLink MX+ and potentially just a phone holder as well. I find that the phone is too big for the lowest dash compartment and other than throwing it in the console I dont see many great alternatives (excluding the dash mounted options). Anyone tried this location?

Put the phone in the cup holder and watch the road ahead, not the display.

There are a lot of news reports about distracted driving and people crossing over the line and crashing, usually head on into another vehicle.

Thanks coach, ill keep that in mind. I hope you don't look at your navigation in the dash while driving either.

ProClip mount works excellent, FYI. Not as high up as you're looking for, but works great for line of site for a quick glance.

I am trying to keep it up out of the way, but easily viewable when off road for tire pressures /trans temps. If I wasn't OCD I would just mount it to the dash lol.

proclip makes three different mounts for the 4R, One that goes on the driver side pillar, either center dash vents or passenger side console. 2017 Toyota 4Runner Dashboard Mounts | ProClip USA

use the one you would like and get a ram mount ball base, ram arm length of your choice and x-grip (large) to hold your phone.

Toyota navigation, not worth looking at.

i mounted a magnetic mount just to the left of that vent that places the phone in a similar position without blocking any air

this is what i use. 3m tapes to the dash besides the vent securely. Phone stays put with the magnet

trying this as a solution

I was hoping to have the phone up high, but this may work. I might have spent 30 minutes on this easily removable mod. If someone posted this here before, I failed to find it.

Ground down a wing nut
[IMG][/IMG]

Used a hot knife to make it fit in a switch hole cover

Screwed in the Ram mount ball fitting

Snapped into left side, it doesn't block the vent at all.

Although the weight makes it lean forward, I cant get it to pop out of the dash cover when pulling on it

Nice! very clever way for a non-invasive mount solution!

Thumbs down

Turn your damn phone OFF and put it in the center console if you're operating a vehicle. I turn the nav screen off the vast majority of the time I'm behind the wheel too. And I have my settings so the in-dash screen is blank too. I focus on the road ahead, behind and to my sides only while I'm driving, and that's the only thing you should be paying attention to too.
