Upfit Head Unit

I know when the newer 4Runners came out with the new head unit, lots of discussions about head unit upgrades would occasionally mention hoping an upfit for older 5th gens would ultimately become available, but I've seen nothing about anyone actually doing it.

Anyone done the upfit to the new head unit? So many mixed reviews on the daisata and t9 that I'm torn on what to do. Full disclosure: I upgraded to a Kenwood DDX9905S, but it's largely been a pain with no HDMI input.

It does not fit older 5th gens because harness is different and there is no aftermarket adapter. This 2021 head unit sells for $4,000 and I don't see many people lining up to buy this and start splicing up it's wiring.
