Entunes 3.0
I have read a previous thread where a user claimed to download Entunes 3.0 app on the iphone and it fixed all of the entunes/bluetooth pairing/disconnect issues. After downloading, I was unable to pair with my 2017 SR5 4runner and noticed that 4runners were not even an option when setting up the app. Is there a work around or are we stuck with the regular entunes garbage app? I continually have the issue it appears all entunes users have with my system rebooting in the middle of driving/sometimes not connecting to my phone ect....

Have you loaded the latest firmware onto the headhunt via USB?

Ah, sorry for my confusion. Nope. Still running the original Entune App (1.27.770). I suspect the 3.0 isn't a real option with the pre 2020 head units.

Really? How did you set it up, when you log into the entunes 3.0 app it asks which model of toyota you have and then gives you the following options : camry, mirai, sienna, "I don't see my vehicle model". If you select the I don't see option it states that entune 3.0 does not support your vehicle.

I've been having the same problem with bluetooth disconnecting on me right in the middle of a call. Couldn't get Entune 3.0 to work on my phone, so I loaded the other/original app and sat for about 30 seconds with the rig running and app open on my phone. It popped up and said I had a mandatory update ready to install. Clicked install and it seems to have resolved the issue (spent almost an hour on the phone this morning while driving between sites and had zero drops). I'm in a 2016 SR5 Premium - no JBL amp.

Just a quick follow up here, since installing the Entune update from the phone app, I've had zero issues with bluetooth dropping. Several hours of calls from different callers while driving this week and it used to happen on almost every call.

I'm not sure why anyone uses the app on your phone. Maybe some of the Entune options? I don't use any of them, and I get tired of it always popping up on my phone that it wants to connect. Or, it forgets my login and I have to re-enter it. I finally removed the app from my phone. Never had a problem with calls dropping, or Siri not working over my radio. It's connected over bluetooth, along with a couple other phones in my family, and they all play music or take phone calls just fine without the app installed. All are iphones.
What am I missing?

Others can correct me if I'm wrong, however I believe that the Entune app will download new software / firmware to your OEM head unit via cellular if / when one becomes available.

Interesting. Can anyone clarify? I don't see any benefit of using the Entune phone app. Has anyone found a reason to retain said application?

I was of the same mindset until I started dropping connection midway through a call. Searched the forum here and found a thread where someone mentioned they saw a mandatory update from the connected app. I installed the app on my phone, saw the update, installed, and have had no issues since. No explanation other than that.
FWIW, I don't use the app regularly and have no intention to start doing so. I even disabled the "search for installed app" in the head unit so it doesn't harass me about it at start. Occasional connection for updates is all I'll ever do from here out.

I installed the regular entune app and did the update shortly after getting the 4runner. Since only a few of the head unit apps need entune, I disabled it they were apps I don't use anyway. It still plays music, makes calls and does nav searches just fine without entune running on the phone.
