I just had a quote for winter tires. It’s still possible to have 17 in rims instead of mag. Would there be any modification to do to install 265/70R17 on a limited?

yes, no need to modify the vehicle. choose some aftermarket hubcentric wheels or pick up some cheap sr5/trail wheels that owners have ditched and put on your favorite snow tires.
Thanks guys for your help! So i’ll go with Nokian Hakka 9 with stud 265/70R17 on 17 inch rims. It seem like tmps reflash with new wheel is a complicated process therefore alloy wheel don’t have such an advantage. Rims are also cheaper to replace which could be needed in a near future with the amount of potholes in the area.
I had the same question and after research I am thinking about 17 inch wheels and General Grabber ATX tires. They seem to be very good in the snow according to the reviews and they are all terrain. They might be slightly worse in snow than dedicated winter tires but they are much more flexible and can do some off-roading with them.
Wheel fitment is a big issue. If you're using a 4Runner 17 wheel you should have no issues. If you're using an aftermarket wheel, you'll have to calculate (or have done for you) the math on backspacing, etc., to make sure it will fit.
I went with Nokian Hakkapeliittas R3 265/70/17 with trd Pro wheels for my 2017. I will probably try Hakkapeliittas 9 the next time as they are the best of the best in the world.
