Cargo Power Outlet Usage Question

What do you guys use that rear cargo outlet for? I know the power is a bit on the low side.

I was hoping to run some kind of vacuum cleaner from it but I don't think it will have enough power.

Is there a vacuum cleaner that would work? Maybe even some type of small shop vac?

Better yet, who has upgraded the voltage on this unit?

I've run several things from mine, a computer, breast pump (came in handy fairly often for this), air compressor, etc. It's nice to have it back there but would be more useful for camping if it had enough power to supply a small burner for cooking.

I used it for my soldering iron and my Dremel.
I think you should be ok to vacuum for a little bit probably not for a detail job!

i just checked a small 1 gallon shop vac and even that was over 700 watts, so i bet you'll have a tough time finding one under 400 watts

they make 12v automotive vacuums though and also battery powered shop vacs

more... voltage? (lol, jk)

for more wattage run wires from the battery and install a larger inverter (a burner will probably pull more than your alternator, so you'll need a battery bank or something to cook)

I've run a Dremel from mine, charged some 2-way radios, ran a compressor for an air mattress and ran some christmas lights.

Portable battery banks are more practical than idling your vehicle to run a small piece of electronics. I've wanted to use mine for some tailgating related shenanigans, but I can't bring myself to hang out with the car idling for what is truly the definition of "no good reason."

I ran the inflation blower on my queen air mattress from it this weekend.

I keep one of those Plug-In air fresheners in mine... Only turn it on occasionally, and it is almost always while im driving but i only leave it on for 10 minutes or so at a time... By that point the entire 4runner smells great so i turn it off.

That's actually a really good idea!

I've used it to charge my drone batteries while driving, and have had people plug in laptops to charge while driving/working in the back plenty of times.

I use a crock pot for tailgating, power tool battery charger, and a electric pole saw. Just got to remember to turn it back on, shuts off everytime you turn off engine.
