You are correct. I think it costs more to produce a gallon of ethanol than it does a gallon of gasoline. And it contains less energy per gallon. The corn lobby is very powerful.

I live in Kali.....where my Government thinks FOR Me! I don't have to make choices, they know what is best and just send Me the Bill......it's so easy! There IS no Ethanol free gas so my Brain doesn't have to ''Hurt'' making these kinds of decisions! I know you are jealous, but it's coming to your State soon so cheer up!

No, it will not come to my state. Midwest doesn't settle for crap like that. Just look at major headquarters located here. Do you think we are our own enemy? No one in state government would want to take on useless task of thinking and deciding for the people. Socialist and communist we are not.

"Remember when gas was only 10c difference between the different octane levels?"

I remember when gas was 19 CENTS per gallon. And my big Chevy or Olds V8 didn't get 4Runner mileage.

I can get ethanol free, but it's 20 to 30 miles away in the wrong direction. And some of that is at marina prices.

Heck, the marina 5 miles from me on the James River is advertising unleaded for $3.69 per gallon. That's compared to $2.29 at the nearest convenience store.

This 2016 TEP w/KDSS is a big step up from the 1986 Subaru GL wagon I used on the Outer Banks beaches for 14 years. That thing would go anywhere in the sand on 185/70-13 tires. Dual range 5 speed, factory skid plate, 3 position manually adjustable rear shocks and armored exhaust. All factory, including the white spoke wheels. The front sub frame finally rusted apart.

Ethanol is one of the biggest 'environmentally friendly' lies perpetrated on the people, just to appease the corn lobby, which was mainly family owned in the 70's, but is now mainly corporate owned now, so the supposed lie about 'helping farmers' is now total bunk, along with the lie that it was 'good for the environment'.

And yes, Trump gave the industrial farmers a big bone when he allowed the blending of 15% ethanol year round.

I'm pissed at him about that, but not pissed enough to vote for any of the anti-American sacks of dog excrement that the left is made up of.

I almost exclusively use ethanol free, 87 octane gas. I have a station 4 miles from my house that sells it year round and the price difference is only about $0.20 higher than 87 octane ethanol mix. I average 20.4-22.5 mpg year round on a totally stock SR5.

Very easy to find around the KC area. I get it for the lawnmower!

Here in Idaho a Mobile station nearby sells 87 EF for the same price as every other place else sells 10% for. Right now 2.66$ .

We have ethanol free at all the local Maverik stations. I’ve done comparisons a couple times. Once with two tanks and the next time with three. No noticeable difference in power or mileage. I’ll try to dig out my numbers and post them.

No "noticeable difference" isn't possible. Check your numbers again when you try another time or your gas station is not using E0 gas and possibly selling standard ethanol blended stuff as ethanol-free. You should see a difference especially once you get trough second tank meaning ethanol has being flushed out of your tank.

Yup.. Just filled up after running a tank of corn free premium, and with 265/70/16 AT's (Falken for the first half, GY Duratracs the second) I got 21.2 as indicated by Fuelly. And my MPG guestimator in the dash was 21.3. I've been running ethanol blended premium and using an ethanol dissolving additive and that has averaged about 20.8 on average.

As I said before, ethanol being good for the environment is a frigging lie.

Remember when gas was $.25/gal and $.10 difference between grades and there was no ethanol in it and it was leaded. Not many of you will remember those days. That's when I drove a '70 Mark Donahue autographed AMC Javelin!
