No Chiltons or Haynes Manuals for 5th Gen?

Searched and found neither Chiltons nor Haynes for our 5th gens.

Any other similar source for DIY guys?

I don’t know about Chilton or Haynes manuals, but there’s a factory service manual in the stickies.

Alldata is better anyways. Or Mitchell. Im in college now for auto tech and performance and we never even touch a chiltons.

Granted the full alldata access is EXPENSIVE... But you can get the DIY subscription pretty cheap. 50 bucks for 5 years. or 30 for a year.

Haynes did and apparently there is no interest in keeping it going. Can't imagine it's cheap or easy to make those books.

Chiltons hasn't produced yet to my knowledge. Looks like they might have something in regards to wiring diagrams.

TIS (linked the post above me) you can get a two day pass for a few bucks. It is the complete factory service manual... or find that fine rogue version mentioned, links are broken but still a solid compilation.

EDIT: hmm seems they raised their prices a bit, still $20 isn't terrible.

Why No Haynes Manuals?

Best bet for a 5th Gen 4Runner Repair Manual is the one Nashman69g setup years ago. It's based on the 2010 model, but the vast majorty of it applies across the board from 2010 to the present. Here's a link for the files you can download:

My Files

If it's Chiltons you want, their online doc is available for free at the Roswell New Mexico Public Library. Not just 4R, but other models of Toyota and other vehicle Makes.

Chilton Auto Repair Library | Roswell, NM

Once inside - select -> Chilton Library - Bluish/Green colored bar - scroll to find it
Then select -> ChiltonLibrary.com
City -> Roswell - Zipcode - 88202 - click Access Now

These online Chilton manuals are very much like the factory doc and not at all like the paperback books.

I later in the day tried this and got a msg that more or less rejected my logon just as it had when I tried using my local zip code, so I tried another NM city -> Las Cruces - 88203 and it worked. Not sure what's going on. Maybe their server is detecting access from out-of-state...might take awhile for this to happen.

Beware - you may have to learn the names and zipcodes of a lot of NM cities in order to access the Chilton Auto Repair manuals at the Roswell NM public library.

After a few days the access issue cleared up for me and I now simply use the city -> Roswell and zipcode 88202. Have been in and out of it many times over the past couple of months.

The free access to the Chilton one is pretty slick.

But is it downloadable? If away from internet access it does me no good...need to carry it with me either on my computer or printed.

Further study would yield you the information you are looking for.

I am sure there is a “downloadable” pdf version of the 2010 manual, somewhere around. While it is “probably” not as up-to-date or as fully functional as the online version, I “suspect” you can get most of what you need from it.

I should have been more clear- I want the 2019 manual if I'm going to pop for $20 on the TIS site. Some info has alluded to them changing and it isn't PDF.

I already have the 2010 in PDF version.

Live docs are usually up to date. I guess we won't know how up to date until someone ponies up.

I am curious, what is this "info" you have heard? and what is it about? TIS?

Also, why don't you have a sig with your model/year? it's helpful
