Just finished the dealer install of a 2021 Fox TRD Pro Suspension Kit on my '21 TRD OR with KDSS. I have a 1" lean left to right, driver's side high, after recalibrating the KDSS and am convinced it is due to the different perch heights on the front springs. I just ordered another front left to install on the right side, same as you, niadh0. This should hopefully get me back to 100% level side to side with about a 1-1.25" rake front to rear.

Having said that, I'll have a single right side Fox shock, part no. PTR61-89210-RF, for sale if anyone wants to build a kit.

I decided to go this route after speaking to a Fox tech person a couple days ago. He said the TRD Pro shocks were "special" and nothing else they sell at this time has that combination of on road and off-road performance.

We'll see. I'll report back after the right side install.

now that's great to hear. my decision to go with two identical fronts (I think i was the first one ever to do this) was based on other users sharing their lean issue. I I didn't want take any chance so combined the two kits - one set on mine (two LF) and there remaining set on my wife's 4R limited (two LR).

Now with your experience, now its a full tested fact that the OR with KDSS needs identical shocks in the front. since you had the KDSS calibrated, you may have to do it again once you put the identical shock. Let know how it goes.

after a year, my 4R has maintained the level and the height. No drop of any kind or lost level or exhibited any lean.

Did you buy the single left strut through the dealer?

Was the part number for the additional 2021 LF Fox strut (to use on the passenger side) PTR61-89210-LF?

FYI- PTR61-89210 4RUN Suskit Se (2021 version) front coil overs have 2 different perch heights. If you want identical perch heights, you have to order an additional one. I went with the LF variety bc I wanted to eliminate some rake bc of the mildly higher perch height.

To eliminate the lean, couldn't one just swap the two front struts - i.e., use LF strut on right side and RF strut on left side?

Also, how is the ride with the Pro Fox upgrade and KDSS?

Just got them installed yesterday evening. Have only put about 16 miles on them. So far so good. Better than stock kdss shocks...softer and fewer detectable bumps. Haven’t done any measurements but I can tell I still have a slight rake. Maybe around inch. Before I was center hub to bottom fender at 20 front & 22.5 Rear. Same on both sides. I’ll measure pro setup later. I did measure stock kdss takeoff coil overs and the perch height was identical for both sides. Guess kdss handles any lean from weight (gas/battery/me) by design? Looks just like a pro from a stance standpoint. If they sold the pro w kdss and in silver, it would be much easier.

As far as swapping locations to handle potential lean (LF on R and RF on L), your guess is a good as mine. I knew the 6112 kdss setup called for identical perch heights, and a previous poster successfully completed the LF,LF,LR,RR setup with the 2020 kit, so I convinced the important thing is same perch height. Even more convinced after stock coil over takeoffs came in at same perch height.

Remembered to measure after install this weekend. Both LF and RF are now 21.5 hub to fender...increase of roughly 1.5” and difference of 1 inch between front and back. Thanks to previous the posters that helped me save time by posting their results and setups. It works great.

I was the first one who did it and absolutely zeros issues of any kind. no lean or dropped levels anywhere. No need for Pre sollisison sensor calibration

you are welcome. glad to see others are following the same route as i did. i started the thought based on the OffRoad stock coming with identical shocks. and being owned 2019 pro i knew that the front two Pro shocks had different pirch settings. no brainer to use two identical ones. before i went this route, some other users on a FB forum told me about the lean issue and also mentioned that he tried swapping L to R and R to L but the issue wouldn't go away even after recalibrating KDSS. Enjoy the ride. we have best of the both worlds.... KDSS + FOX. Perhaps not a good combo for the rock crawlers but the City driving and trail rides are amazing in this combination.


you results are consistent with mine

This is great info. Thanks for reporting back - I think I’m gonna go for it.

I wonder if one could take two of the right side shorter struts and add taller springs or the Westcott spacers to make them work. Could create and after market for the folks that are selling the extra unused strut.
