depending on where you live, drive with the windows down enough and it'll get dirty over time. heck even windows up will do it on old cars, no cabin filter in my 3rd gen for instance.

my dad commutes 60 mi one way through downtown Los Angeles and one year my buddy and i detailed his little beater Toyota pickup he had driven since new. it was disgusting how dirty the headliner was, and only really evident once you started cleaning just how dirty.

I'm talking about sucking in exhaust fumes, not dirt (I know, I veered off from the thread topic, sorry).

Being able to put the rear window down has several pluses, one of which I thought was allowing dogs to see out the back and to also get a rush of air coming towards them from the front.... but if having the rear window down is going to suck in exhaust fumes that puts an end to that idea.

I know this will sound weird but I use a clothes roller on the headliner. It’s stickiness pulls dirt and hair right out of the headliner. Areas like the back window and drivers pillar handle are the dirtiest.

yes rear window alone pulls in lots of exhaust fumes... which is unfortunate because it was a big feature for me before i knew it pulled in fumes.. toyota should've routed the bloody exhaust to the side behind the tire like most trucks

If I have my rear window open, I have the other windows and sunroof open as well, so I never notice any exhaust fumes in the cabin. In fact, one of the things I love about the rear window is that with just the sunroof and rear window open, you get really good ventilation through the sunroof and very little wind noise. Perhaps the exhaust fumes issue occurs if no other windows are open or if you don’t have the sunroof.

I never get exhaust through my back window. Stock exhaust.

My headliner has already got some nasty stains from loading things, and climbing in and out of the cargo area. Wonder how much it would cost to get it reupholstered in the black tacoma headliner.

I've been using Folex in my cars for as long as I can remember and it works great.

This stuff takes out oil smudges, dirt, etc with ease.
