2014 limited aftermarket 20s to 17s
So I purchased my 2014 limited a couple months back and it had 20x9 gear wheels on a 275/60/20 Falken Wildpeak at3w equivalent of a 33x11. I wanted to go smaller from the beginning as I wasnt crazy about the style of wheel and the 20s.
Forward a couple months later I came across an amazing deal for some 17x7.5 4runner Trail / Fj Cruiser 8 hole style wheels. I snatched them up. I planned on finishing and painting them on my own, but it looked like crap. I decided to take them to get powdercoated.
I also found a set of 285/70/17 Duratracs with great tread for a steal also.
I went this morning and had those mounted and balanced on the new to me 17's. They look great. Duratracs are a little louder, but its fine to me. For some reason the overall truck height and wheel / tire feels and looks smaller to me for some reason. Maybe its the 17 playing with my head.
Both manufacturer site overall specs are about the same. The falken is a 33.1 overall diameter with a 10.8 width, and the Duratrac is a 33.0 and a 11.5 width. Just for some reason it feels smaller now.
Anyway here are the pics of before with the black 20's and today with the bronze 17's.

Thanks man. I was wondering how these would end up looking, but I think they turned out alright.

IMHO, it looks better with the 17" 285/70/17. it just looks smaller because the wheel is smaller but now you have much more rubber between the ground the wheel

Swapped to the same wheels on our '15 Limited, and never looked back. Looks better, rides nicer, there is no downside IMO.

The longer I am around it, the more I am getting used to it. I think it was just playing with my mind. I even took the tires and sat them side by side before the switch and they were almost dead on in circumference.

Awesome man. I am a fan of the 8 hole trail / FJ wheels. I was going to do something else aftermarket, but when I came upon the deal for these, I could not pass it. Then I just went and had them finished in my color choice.

I was right with my feeling but wrong ok them being the same. I unloaded the 20s a min ago and rolled the setup next to the others since they are now mounted and the 20 setup is about an inch taller.

Running those tire sizes through a comparison app, there should be only .3" difference with the 20's being taller. Maybe having the vehicle weight on the new tires makes them flatten into the pavement a bit?

The 20s have no weight on them, but your 17s do. That's the only reason they're an inch taller.

Gotcha.. I started to say, that when I compared the 285's unmounted next to the 20's on the car, they werent that much different. It has to be the weight, plus the little bit of size difference.
