In about 10 years Toyota white single stage paint tend to turn chalky and become pitted from past experience.

I also have an 05 SW Tacoma and the paint is great condition. Never garaged, washed about 3-4 per year. Paint is just fine for it's age. Not chalky, no peeling, just dull from neglect. I could wax it and it would shine just fine.

I have a 19 super white trdorp. Not too worried about the paint. I'll probably just wax it once a year with some of that fancy stuff you guys are talking about.

18 isn't listed as a problem year so there is nothing to discuss.

I have had silver and 2 grays but my 2 cents says put Cquartz on it and renew it every year since there is no clear coat on it.

I am only speculating but I believe the years noted in the paint model / year matrix have a large component of aligning with customer complaints.
As much as I love all you guys and gals here, anyone who does not own or have first hand knowledge of 4Runner Blizzard Pearl or Super White paint performance has no business telling those of us who own these colors what we should or should not be concerned about.

Let me get this straight. Yours is a 2019. And this only affects model years up to 2015? Common sense is not your thing is it?

A lot of people are giving you great feedback here.
Have a Super White - yes, it takes some work to: (a) keep clean, (b) keep little things from showing up on the paint (good wax comment), (c) did I say keep clean? If you want to spend the extra $$ for another color, go for it. There are a lot of Super Whites out there for a reason - people want them.
If you still don't like it, get a "wrap" as stated before (or even get a super cool custom paint job): you'll spend less than buying a new truck.
So... what I don't get is... you say you're "OCD," and a "detail" guy, and there aren't a lot of recent examples of peeling paint being reported (not that I've seen, and hope I'm not wrong)... why don't you like the white?? With your background you should have no problem keeping that truck looking much better than most of us.

With all due respect, I don't think anyone can expect responses ONLY from a specific group when a question gets posted to everyone. While those would be the most meaningful responses, they won't ever be the only ones. Kind of like people who have no kids offering up parenting advice - it just happens.

This is the most logical post in this thread.
Trading in a nearly new vehicle with 800 miles to potentially avoid a problem that it may never have is a really bad financial move. Sounds like you’re looking for an excuse to buy another new 4Runner.
800 miles in 6 months!?! I’m at 12,000+ miles in 5 months. Drive that thing!

Owning a 19 TRD ORP Super White I was concerned about not having a clear coat, though there are plenty of bad clear coats.
I always do full paint correction on new cars. It is always a big improvement, but the 4R needed it more than others. Maybe it is how it is shipped, exposer while shipping, the single stage paint, I don’t know, but there was a lot of contamination on the paint. After the full cleaning, clay bar, 2 stage polish I did a ceramic coat and sealant. The paint is so much better now and super easy to clean.
Given what I saw I think sealing up the paint will make a huge difference with longevity (chalking, oxidation, flaking, etc.)
Plus I have a full rack and getting under it for anything is challenging. I wanted that paint protected as much as possible.
Not having a clear coat the paint is thin, so you have to go lightly with the polishing pads.

This seems to be affecting 2017 tacomas....
2017 Super white paint problem | Tacoma World
I'm not sure this stops at 2015 or if that is all Toyota is acknowledging at this point.
I am sure your comment is unnecessary, unless it is your 35k+ vehicle and YOU don't care about it. As a 2018 SW owner, i purchased the 4Runner to look good and run well for years. I too have concerns about the paint.

Why does Toyota put clear coat on any vehicle, I mean it costs extra money and may eat into their profits. Sarcasm. Seems efffing strange that they wouldn't put clear coat on only 1 color. I still find it hard to believe. I'll have to put a buffer on mine one day and see if any white comes off. It is doesn't, it probably has clear coat despite what I keep hearing.

I had a '97 Limited way back. The hood and fenders were painted before I purchased it. The front half was always glossy, but the rear dulled between waxes.

I'm a little worried myself. I got the dealer paint protection film but it isn't very good and already yellowing. I'll look into ceramic costing or another kind of protection. Too bad I already have a chip on the passenger A pillar.
