Pinch Welds... Cut or Bend?

Curious what people did for pinch welds behind your front wheels for bigger fitment - cut them or bend them?

Bending i did hear can cause your fender gap to be mis-aligned...

As always pictures are appreciated.

I would bet that if you went slow and took your time until it's folded over most of the way, you could avoid changing any body lines. I personally haven't adjusted mine so someone with actual experience might tell you different.

FWIW, Total Chaos heat and hammered theirs in the BMC instructional video they have on YouTube. Heating and bending / flattening the pinch makes more sense to me than cutting it with regards to strength and maintenance of body lines- that way you still have a sealed seam.

Heat Gun and a round face hammer. Hit it with some bedliner after to re seal any metal you may expose from hammer strikes.

I made small cuts every 5 inches. Then bent them and reaealed the entire thing with silicon and undercoat.

I just ordered the 9” wide version of the scs ray 10.

Out of curiosity, what wheel and tire are you trying to stuff in there?

Specifics?

Liberal use of a BFH and swing away. Does not affect alignment issues of fenders and panels. If you really get after it, it "MAY" slightly affect the mounting stud for securing the kick panels in the foot well area. Spray down with some truck bed liner when done.

What tire are you running?

I have a few miles left in my 33s but am looking at 34 or 35 possibilities.

Well, I don't know what I was thinking of as far as remembering a heat gun in the video, but yes that's the one. For What It's Worth = fwiw... I stand by the hammering as opposed to cutting statement even without the heat though.
