Billstein 6112s and Icon UCAs up front, 5100s and Icon 2-inch springs in the back. Nose Up

So I removed a Daystar 3 inch lift and leveling kit that I've had on for about a month (hated the ride) and Installed Billstein 6112s with heavy duty springs & Icon upper control arms up front. I installed 5100s in the rear with Icon 2 inch lift springs. Set the front heights at setting 6 for the driver's side and 4 for the passenger side as per the manufacturer's recommendation. Based on everything that I've read I would expect the ride to be level just like it was with the stock suspension and Daystar leveling kit. When I was installing the springs I was surprised how much shorter the new springs were compared to the Daystar spacers. I thought that maybe they were just stiffer and it would all work itself out. Well I put it all back together and now it looks like I am doing a wheelie. Anyone had any weird experiences like that? It almost looks like I need to put the Daystar spacers back in on top of the icon springs but that doesn't seem right to me. Has anyone else run this setup or similar and had a similar experience?

I'm not familiar personally with the 6112 kit but I do recall the first set of Bilstein HD's I installed back in 1998 on my spankin new tacoma I put the lower spring seats on upside down. It sat VERY nose high. Needless to say I didn't actually drive it like that.

I confirmed everything is installed in the right orientation. Only difference from others that I have seen is that I bought the 6112s with the HD springs to account for a future winch bumper install. Wondering if this is how it's going to look until I get that installed.

Can you post a picture of your spring perches?

Maybe give it some time to settle, I recently installed the 6112 with the 600lbs coil and it settled after a week or so. The 650lb coil I ran on previous shocks without any hardware up front took more time to settle.

It's dark out but you can see the coilover spring perches here. Even with the setting higher in the driver's side the passenger side is about 3/8 higher.

You do not have KDSS, correct?

Are the HD springs different from the springs that come 'stock' on the 6112 strut? Could be that the length is longer on the HD coils and the instructions were meant for the standard coil.

So according to the Bilstein instructions it looks like the height should be the same at Max (2.6) for non KDSS. It also shows that max for the B8 6116 struts is snoring settings 6 & 4 and not 7 & 5 like I have seen others post.

What is odd is that according to Wheelers website there was a change that will increase height with the 700lb springs. I am not sure if that was accounted for in the reduction in snap ring height or not. At this point I am going to most likely throw a cornfed 1 inch coil spacer on the top of my Icon springs to bring up the rear and call it a day. That is taller than I wanted, but I don't have too much interest in taking the struts back apart to lower the snap rings. Anyone see any flaw with this?

Honestly, you have zero need for the 700 lb springs until your truck is fully loaded down with skids, dual battery’s , a winch and bumper, etc. I know people like to over build stuff but when it comes to springs it just rarely works out right. The stock springs would be adequate for a long time even with the winch. If it made it sag a little you can adjust it to the proper height.

I’m willing to be your closer to 3.5/4 “ of lift right now and it rises like complete crap. I would not recommend leaving it at that height.

I tell people all the time it’s better to under spring something in the beginning and move up. 1, your back will thank you, 2 you will be able to tell when you need to re spring the truck as it will start blowing through the spring and bottoming out. IMO you want the softest spring possible that will not bottom out. This usually provides the most flex and best ride quality

Typically, the instructions are for the standard spring rate.

Kings come with 550 for most applications and many report a change in height when they opt for anything higher at zero preload (no adjustments made on the coilover ring).

You could always lower the front but it sounds like it is more effort then you want to do. hah

Well I'm already "pregnant" with the HD springs so there isn't much to do about it now except for lowering my settings about 1/2 inch. I am already running C4 rock sliders and my SSO full roof rack. My next add is a winch bumper and winch. I do intend to have an RTT, but it won't be permanently installed. I read enough people's opinions about losing level after a winch/bumper install. I was hoping to avoid that. Oddly it is actually the straight edge on too of the SSO roof rack that makes the nose up effect seem so noticeable.

Lesson learned. All in all I am wishing I would have just done the Icon stage 2 kit. At least I could have spanner wrenched my fronts to level it as opposed to tearing the entire thing back apart. May try to take some readings and see where it sit before 8 do anything else. Didn't want a massive lift. Only planning on fitting 275/70R/17s. No need for anything too big so I don't want a monster fender gap. If it isn't too bad I may slip the cornfed spacers in. Gotta fiddle with the rear springs anyway. After bouncing the truck around on some bad roads I am about a half inch lower on the passenger rear. If the Gap is too much then I will bite the bullet and pull the springs off of the front and lower snap rings.

It would probably be a lot easier to just lower the front struts and won't cost you anything but time.

I’ve been limited on time recently and excuse me if we covered this but I believe the height/lift clip settings are different as per bilsteins website instructions for the 600 vs 650 coil setup. Might be worth glancing at.

I’ve test driven a rig with a 600lbs coil slightly preloaded with a spacer and a C4 bumper with winch and it drove soft but okay IMO - maybe something else to consider.
