moonroof tilt rattle
Moonroof rattles over bumps only when in tilt function. Otherwise there are no rattles at all. I sprayed some lithium grease and doesn't seem to have made any difference. Anyone else run into this and find a good solution? Thank you.

I just noticed this a couple days ago. Mine is more of a squeaking than a rattling but there is some minor rattle too.

Mine was doing it too, rattles over bumps. Had the dealership look at it and they ended up changing out the whole moonroof assembly!
10k miles later and I hear it every once in a while...

Mine does the same. The black rubber accordion covers on either side seem to be the source. Try removing them and see if it solves your problem. The pop right out. The lower attachment doesn't seem to be tight enough.

So far so good on mine, but it does stop just short of full open. Then I have to pull the switch again to make it go the rest of the way, maybe an inch more. Not sure if that was designed that way or not. Minor annoyance.

My 2018 was doing this. It's fixed now.
I took it to the dealer and they fixed it after a few road tests. I was told they removed some of the moon-roof trim and secured something with tape to take up excess tolerances.
I'll check my service papers tonight to see if there are more specifics.
It was really annoying when it was occurring. I was hearing a rattle/squeak on the passenger-side trim of the moon-roof. It would happen when it was tilted up, and when driving over even the smallest road imperfections. I could stop the sound by placing pressure on the passenger-side trim covering the tilt mechanism with my hand.

I’ve got it too. Talking in for service next week anyway (As my headunit seems to be power cycling in an infinite loop). I will report back with results.

This is the issue. Mine does the same and has done so since new. For a quick check just put a little pressure on the accordion near the front of the moonroof and see if that helps. I did take mine out completely and the noise stopped 100%. I put them back in but did not do anything to care for it yet as it has not bothered me to the point that I feel the need to deal with it yet. You should be able to apply some electrical tape or other material where they snap in to resolve it.

Yep it's designed not to open all the way at first. I think it's because of the wind noise / wind resistance when it's fully open and being more optimal when it's only ~ 80% or so open.

Both of my 5th gen trucks rattle with the sunroof tilted up.
It's nearly identical sound and circumstances as our 4th Gen. There is a really nice writeup on the sound and fix in the 4th gen forum. I've not tried this on my 5th gen because I just turn up the radio or slide the roof back.

Ahhh, ok, good to know there is nothing wrong with it.

Thanks! I suspected them. Like the bottom of it tapping against the metal of the rail itself. I didn't know it was removable. I will check it out.

Thanks. Glad it doesn't appear to be something broken. If you do get a chance to check the paperwork for specifics that would be much appreciated.

here are the notes from my service summary, word for word:
Quote:
test drove vehicle with sunroof in tilt up position and heard a ticking noise.
ticking noise is gone when sun roof is closed or in full open position.
applied pressure to sunroof while in tilt up position during test drive. tick noise did not change.
applied rubber conditioner to sun roof weather strip. ticking noise is still there.
removed left side sunroof garnish, ticking noise did not change.
removed right side sunroof garnish and ticking noise went away.
inspected right side sunroof garish and you can see signs of rubbing on the top of garnish.
applied sound dampening tape to top of right side sunroof garnish and reinstalled.
test drove vehicle and ticking noise is gone.
