ARB drawer fitment in tailgate
I kept the ARB drawers from my 3rd gen when I sold it to put into the 5th gen. Sometimes I pull them out for full cargo space so I never mounted the brackets, just tossed them in and they've been great.
I test fitted one of the drawers before my last trip, and the angled part of the tailgate floor that backs up into the rear seats is keeping the drawers from sliding in all the way. I was almost positive the drawers from the 3rd gen and 5th gen are the same length, but I'm wondering if the brackets are necessary to clear that angle or if there's something else I'm missing?

The drawers should be the same length I would have thought.
What brackets are you referring to? The left/right braces that go onto the bottom of the drawers to attach to the floor?

Yeah just the mounting brackets. In my 3rd gen I just dropped the drawers in so I could remove them with ease. Basically that ramp that connects the tailgate to the rear seats won't let me slide the drawers in all the way.

Do you have 3rd row seats?
Pics might help.
I have a plywood “plate” under mine to get them to fit right, but I don’t have the 3rd row seating.

This keeps throwing me off - the tailgate?
Can you post photos?
Is this "the ramp" you keep talking about? Regular 5th gen drawers stop right at the edge of it. If yours are longer than those, then maybe you have the landcruiser length drawers which just so happened to fit into your old 3rd Gen?

Yeah that's the ramp sorry for the confusion. I have the 945 series and couldn't find online which drawers were for the 5th gen. I could have sworn they were the same. It could be the mounting is necessary to raise it and clear it from the base of the ramp, but I don't want to install the hardware since I tend to take them out fairly often.
Can you confirm which model number is in the picture above?
