Dash cam add a fuse? Which fuse to use?

Guys like the title says, I have a new Street guardian dash cam I am going to hardwire in. I have a micro fuse kit, with a few add a fuses. Question on the fuse box, I want something that is only live while motor is running. Likely Ill put a 10amp fuse for the camera as its low amps. Whats the best terminal to splice into? Want to make sure I dont steal any juice from anything that hits high amps on start up (then dips upon normal running). Any ideas?

Thanks

Try the INJ under hood fuse, or just use a blank in the in cabin fuse box.

I have a garmin with the parking mode cable. It requires a constant source, and and ignition source of power. Here's what I used for both:

I posted many more photos on a thread, but I'll be damned if I can find it right now. Sorry.

FWIW, the micro fuses have little indentations where you can touch them with a multimeter probe, and use the screw post at the fuse panel as a ground. You can quickly find the difference between ACC power and BATT power at the fuse panel

I ended up using IGN 10AMP. Is this a bad spot or ok to use? Has power only when truck is on. Dead when off. I have two ten amp fuses.

Ok? Or problems cutting in with an add a fuse to the IGN?

That should be fine, the one I posted above is an empty circuit that's only on with ACC so you wouldn't have to worry about impacting any other fuses

Updated fuse panel for 2020 Venture w/o KDSS

Just bought first 4 Runner and trying to wire in dash cam similar to original poster. I need a constant on and one to be ignition controlled.

I was going to use the empty fuses described in replies but my fuse panel is different. Attached is photo of it.

My 4 Runner doesn't have KDSS, so I was thinking of taping that circuit. That is ignition controlled I believe.

Any suggestions for an always on one to use? Is there another that "looks used" but isn't based of vehicle options?

Thanks.

I used the KDSS

I used the KDSS fuse location and so far my fuse tap kit seems to be working ok.

What fuse did you end up using for the "always on"? Dealing with the same issue right now as well on my 2020 ORP. Thanks!

I recently added a dash cam. I ended up using the obd fuse because it's always hot

Did you figure out your fuses for it?

Viofo A129 Duo+ - I used the blank (ACC power) under the TOWING BKUP with a 10 amp fuse to power my dash cam and switch bank. I also ran the dual power and ground to my RTMR fuse box for constant power forPparking Mode.

Figured out my issue. I was using the ACC fuse for ACC+ cable, too direct for that to work properly. I had to turn on Accessory power first (two push start presses) and then start it.

I ended up using the P/OUTLET 15A for ACC+, P/SEAT F/L 30A for BATT+ and it's all working now.

For reference

On a 2022 trd pro i ended up using the kdss for the ignition(non equipped kdss) and an open slot for battery power in the same column.
