Yes, besides HID is not good for high beams if you flash them.

4100k is "optimal" temperature. Ignore the troll who said 6500k is best light outbest.

If something other than 4100k provided the best visibility at night all manufacturers would be using it. They're not, they're using ~4100k.

HID don't belong in fog lights.

HID are fine in high beams provided they're bi-xenon projectors, which 4Runners are not. dedicated high beams shouldn't have HID's in them.

Aesthetics and light-output wise relative to OEM headlights they are easily worth the price of admission. I am super happy I took the risk in purchasing from the first run stock.
Definitely agree but I read a lot of that thread and seemed like there was some legitimate concerns. Never understood if there is actually going to be a refined version coming soon as mentioned a couple times. Either way, I was trying to find a stock vs. xb comparison of the side cutoff people complained about. I don't doubt the headlights are a huge upgrade but don't want to improve in one area and worsen another. Still considering them though.

This is my first 4runner, but the android auto seems super laggy to me and it doesn't always respond to voice commands. I've owned a 2017 accord hybrid before and android auto on that worked much smoother. Wondering if I need to update something?? Anyone with a 2020 experiencing this?

As for the vehicle itself, I love it even though certain things like the poor lighting and the fact they're not even auto leave me scratching my head.
The rear window that rolls down makes up for that however!

Went in looking for a base Off road Taco, drove out with a well optioned 4runner premium!

Well that's good to know, I am on the waitlist for a pro right now but still find it crazy that my 2007 infiniti that is worth less than 5k has features that they are just now adding to a 50k vehicle like push start, dual climate control and auto headlights. I know people don't buy the 4runner for that type of stuff but for a daily driver those small things are certainly nice to have and I guess I just falsely assumed that would come standard on any new vehicle these days

My guess is that you'll get over these "discrepancies" once you have your truck. There's just something about them that wins you over. I'm going on a year of owning it after spending 10 years in a 3rd gen. I love it. I appreciate its oldschoolness.

This is the first of that generation of head unit, so yes, there will probably be updates that will improve the performance. I'm kind of hoping it's a drop-in replacement for the <2020 models...

Not yet a 4runner owner but my red 2020 TRD Off Road is coming within next two weeks. Guess it's a good thing I'm upgrading from a 2006 Honda Civic Si. Basically everything that's being complained about here is still and upgrade. Just gonna send it.

I am a bit annoyed they added the dual AC and remote connect to the Pro and Limited trims only.

I thought you would at least be able to use the remote connect on the Off road premium, but it does not look like you can.

Gotcha. Unfortunately I'm a lazy ass and didn't take photos from when I had the OEM halogens and I haven't had the time or will to pull over when I'm out in the PNW boonies to take a photo since I'm usually trying to get somewhere at that point.

But this is basically where the "cutoff" happens in my experience that people are complaining about:

Granted, maybe I'm the only person on this forum that adjusted the x-axis on the headlights to spread the pattern a bit, but I have had zero issues lighting up cross streets in pitch black or not being able to tell where I'm turning.

I'll re-state this since a lot of people make assumptions on here: I'm not the kind of person who is going to praise a product just because I spent money on it. If a product sucks, I'm going to return it. I paid full price for these headlights and am not some Instagram brand ambassador or some shit.

I just know that when two or three people repeatedly dog on a product in a forum and then a bunch of people that don't even own the product join in on the dogpile just to shitstir, it gives the illusion that a majority of people are unhappy, so I'm just trying to make sure that illusion is brought into context.

Could the headlights be better? I have no idea as I'm not sure what driving a tall vehicle with LED lights from the factory is like.

But if you're like me and are staunchly against putting HID bulbs into housings that are not made for HID bulbs but want way better lighting without sacrificing aesthetics (and in some cases, improve them, especially as someone that is big on keeping the aesthetics OEM-looking) and are willing to spend the money to achieve that, these headlights are a great option.

You could also always buy them, install them, and then return them if they really are as bad as "everyone" was saying they are. Most decent companies with word-of-mouth reputations will cover return shipping if you ask nicely, I'm sure.
