Checking in again. I've been working on this for weeks and the only way my system stops rebooting is if I disable contact sync. Then I can use the phone for audiobooks, music, phone calls but none of the system features like reading messages, etc.

update: Still looking for resolution.
Updated firmware on HU display - Did not work
Turned off LTE on phone - Did not work
Deleted bluetooth connection and re-connected - Did not work
Updated Iphone - Did not work
Turned off Sync Contacts - Did not work
Cant hold a call for more than 30-90 seconds before the display just starts resetting itself...
Ideas?

I updated my phone Sunday night, now when ever I call someone using the hands free I stay connected for about 3-4 mins then the toyota system freezes for a couple of seconds, says call ended and then completely resets... wait for the Toyota logo to come back up, everything.
Makes calls just fine everything like it used to but won’t allow me to talk more than a couple of minutes...
Any suggestions? I’m blaming the iPhone update as it wasn’t doing this last week before the update.

Check out this post... for all having the call drop / Bluetooth issue with iPhone, this did it for me.

Cause
Has any identified the reasoning behind why all of a sudden the system starts "rebooting" itself? was there a update that was missed?

Alternative (FREE) solution
There is another thread in the 5th Gen forum that gives you a step-by-step process that should resolve most of these head unit reboot issues that many of us have been facing.
https://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-g...head-unit.html
I've gone through the steps myself, and as soon as I head back out to the truck, I will see if this ugly problem is resolved.

The entire system freezes up and the call becomes choppy and staticky and neither person can hear each other. This is ONLY happening on my iPhone 11 Pro on iOS 13. I have no issues with carplay and using my workphone which is an iPhone 7 Plus and absolutely no issues with carplay on my 11 Pro in any of my other cars.
I am urging people to write to apple and toyota to get this fixed, I dont know who need to fix it but if no one brings it to their attention, they wont know.

2020 and iPhone 11
I've contacted Toyota about this issue as well. I have an appointment with the dealership to document the problems I am having with both Carplay and Bluetooth. Bluetooth echo on the recipient end is frustrating, and I've tried every fix.. unparing, BT volume all the way up, all the way down, phone in pocket, etc. Nothing so far fixes the echo. Now I just read there's a class action lawsuit against Toyota for this issue.
Apple Carplay phone audio is so choppy and cuts in and out that you cannot have a phone conversation. Maps and audio work great but forget about using it to make hands-free calls.
As of today, I have no way of utilizing either option for hands-free calling which is completely unsafe and unacceptable not to mention against the law to have a phone up to my ear while driving.

Apparently, a software update has been released that fixes the CarPlay phone issue. I have a 2020 and have the same problem with Bluetooth working fine but terrible CarPlay phone quality.
Check this out:
2020 4Runner SR5P Carplay Issue | Page 5 | Toyota 4Runner Forum [4Runners.com]
According to at least one guy, the whole system becomes really sluggish when on a CarPlay call but I'll take it for now. Going to dealer ASAP to get the update.
