For the controls layout in the left picture, are we able to use the front windshield defroster at the same time as any of the four modes to the left of the fan speed controls? In the picture to the right, it seems like if the windshield defroster is selected, it is not possible for the other four modes to be activated.

Windshield defroster mode directs air to it. The only mode to the left would be the defrost/feet option, it will split the air between the two.
