Tax is on both vehicles so that's a wash, but I remember buying my 2018 new and there's about 10% more in extra fees/taxes. So, my $46K CAD sticker price 4runner turned out to be $50K CAD all-in.

This won't be the case if you're buying used -you just pay tax and a bullshit documentation fee.
Nevermind not too bad when $ converted.

There's nothing extra in the US that is "mandatory" dealer fees, all that BS are just markups for the dealer to make more money.

Taxes and fees are a percentage based off purchase price. New or used a $30k 4Runner will end up being the exact same cost.

**** me, we get hosed in Canada. I know up here, there are fees associated with a new vehicle that are not associated with a used vehicle if both are purchased from a dealership.

I'm going to check my BOS when I get home. This is going to bug me.

I wouldn't do it. I was able to get my 2019 SR5 Premium w/3rd row and Predator step bars with 6k miles for $34.8 OTD. Still has factory warranty and everything.

Just be patient.

Can I ask what part of the country you're in? Just curious because it seems that pricing is extremely variable based on region.

List prices, taxes, dealer fees and registration fees vary WILDLY from state to state and even county to county. I think there are too many variables and cost differences between forum members to determine if you are getting a good deal or not.

It sounds like you have been doing to proper research on good deals for your region. Therefore, you are going to know your region's market way than another forum member who has advice from another state, purchased in a different year, with different options, warranties, etc. If you've been looking for some time and feel the deal is right for you, then it probably is! Best of luck and just pull the trigger! You won't regret it.

Definitely agree on taxes, license fees, and that stuff...just really looking to compare what folks are getting % off MSRP. I've seen some saying they are getting 15% off new, but in this area it seems to be more like 5-7% off for new.
