Looking at a used 2015 SR5 Premium
Long time lurker...my wife and I have decided to finally get serious about buying me a 4Runner. There is a used 2015 SR5 Premium at our local Toyota dealer which checks all the boxes for what we want.
Low miles (26k), 3rd row, leather-ish seats, sunroof, all that good stuff the Premium trim comes with. Also has aftermarket running boards.
The rig is in great shape, only a couple small cosmetic blemishes on it.
The dealer is asking $32500...seems a bit high to me for a 2015, but I'm guessing they are basing this off of the low miles. I'm thinking I will offer $28k and see what they say.
But before I do that, I just wanted to get others feedback on the 2015's and if there is anything specific i should be looking for from a potential issue standpoint that I might miss. I know with 26k miles, it's probably in find mechanical condition, just want to double check with all the knowledge here.

Only thing I wish I knew about when buying my 4Runner is the potential wobble at speeds of roughly 60-65 mph. Drive it, and see if the steering wheel shakes. Other than that, I wouldn't be too concerned of any other known 4Runner issues. Good luck.

Agree on a price and enjoy it.
I bought my old 2013 7 years ago. It has seen a lot of trails, sand and snow. 63K and no problems, no repairs, no rattles. My 7/75K warranty ran out last month unused. Battery and tires are the only replacements, brakes still look very good.
I noticed you are in the PNW. I'm in Salem and looking for another 4x to goto Sandlake dunes, south of Tillamook. Stock and OEM tires will handle it.

Not sure of your market but seems how for my area. I bought my 2016 3rd row, std sr5 with 28k certified over a year ago for 28.5 all in. Tax, tags, all. It was a nice deal for me but there were a few others in my search in same price range. If this one didn't pop up, i was heading to kentucky for a 2015 sr5 premium with third row for 28k as well but with 48k plus or minus...dont remember exact mileage but a bit higher. Again, this was all 16-18 mos ago.

Man I would be all over that if I saw that listed today!
I feel like the market is pretty crazy up here. Most used 2015s or newer are all over 30k. Unless they have a ton of miles on them.
I’ve been trying to find something under 30 but it just isn’t happening.

I paid 28K before tax for a CPO 2014 Super White SR5 4x4 w/ 35K miles earlier this year. I flew to Phoenix and drove it back to California.

The market may be "crazy" but if your budget is 32k for an SR5 you need to buy new. Start calling dealers and see what prices you're quoted. It's nearing the end of the year and 2019 models need to move.
Used 4Runners are priced high but that doesn't mean they're selling. People also don't realize new ones are as "cheap" as they are compared to used. A brand new car at 33-34k does not carry a 30k+ price tag when it's 3 years old and with 40k miles. 26-27k then maybe, but if your budget is over $30k you may as well buy new.

I didn’t explicitly say it in my original post, and I probably should have. I’m not paying over $30k for a used one. I’ve been looking for something under $30k but there’s just not much out there with the trim and options we want.
If I can get a new SR5 Premium for $33-34k then show me where to sign!

You're adorable.
I wouldn't spend more than 20k on a 5th gen (with a solid service history). 100k is low miles to me. Bought my 3rd gen with 140k on it 13 years ago, never had an issue other than the starter failed once but I started the truck after I banged on it. And all it needed was new contacts, I still have the original starter in there. In fact everything is still original except suspension. I don't think a well maintained 5th gen with highway miles will need anything other than spark plugs, belt, brake pads/rotors until close to 200k miles tbh. And shocks of course but most people are going to upgrade those anyway. Maybe a new radiator and water pump at 120k for good luck.

Start calling around. As the end of the year approaches it's only going to get easier. Shouldn't be that difficult to get into a brand new SR5P for 33k out the door. Yes, out the door. Can probably do better too if you wait another month or two

I mean you're talking 25% off MSRP for that...I'm not a pro when it comes to buying new vehicles, but that just seems crazy to me?

Is that an all-in difference including shipping/import/env fees and such on the new unit?
Tax is on both vehicles so that's a wash, but I remember buying my 2018 new and there's about 10% more in extra fees/taxes. So, my $46K CAD sticker price 4runner turned out to be $50K CAD all-in.
This won't be the case if you're buying used -you just pay tax and a bullshit documentation fee.
