Interior Maxtrax Mounting?

I've Googled quite a bit. Has anybody ever mounted or stored their Maxtrax inside the 5th Gen 4Runner? Thanks!

I've seen someone put it right behind the 2nd row seats. I have a set of tredpro's with the bag and have done the same thing. It's literally the perfect length. There's a little ridge from the plastic side trim of the interior that holds up the edges of the tredpro's.

i store my fake maxtrax (Xbull) in the cargo bay when not in use to prevent theft. I do have maxtrax holders on my roof rack, but I don't use them for daily driving (no point).

I would advise having additional outside mounts or a plan to strap them to the roof. Ya know... in case you use them

Unless you're only wheeling in sand, or other dry environments, there's no way I'd want to put those back inside the truck after having to use them.

I store mine in the back, in the box, and stack things on them. I always have a plastic tarp or two in the truck, so if they get muddy I'll wrap them. Or tie them to the roof.

Come to think of it, I keep the box wrapped in a tarp so prying eyes won't see the BIG LETTERS. I also keep a 2" x 8" x 4' wrapped up with the box.

This is a big step up from the 1986 Subaru GL wagon I used on the Outer Banks beaches for 14 years. That thing would go anywhere in the sand on 185/70-13 tires. Dual range 5 speed, factory skid plate, 3 position manually adjustable rear shocks and armored exhaust. All factory, including the white spoke wheels. The front sub frame finally rusted apart.

You can wrap them in a cheap tarp or movers blanket for after you use them. Hose everything off when you get home.

I keep mine in the center console when not on the roof rack. They're just a tad too big to fit in the coin tray thing. When they get muddy I put them in a small ziplock bag.

(I usually just put them flat against the back of the 2nd row seat or in the rear cargo area somewhere - I don't carry them 99% of the time)

When I have my off-brands with me, I have mine in a bag and place them inside the Toyota cargo net that goes across the rear of the cargo area. This way they are easily accessible. If I were to use them in sand or snow (most likely use for me) I will put them back in the bag and back in truck.

But....if they are used for mud, I agree with others the best place is outside and I have a place on rack to put them if it comes to that. Even if you cover or bag them for the mud.....some mud has some interesting and strong smells and nothing is going to stop that. 🤢

What are you going to do about the mud on your feet?

Same. Last time I used mine, they were *caked* in mud.

Lot easier to clean scrape off 2 shoes or boots than 2 3+ft long boards. And if they’re caked and smell.....tie them to the rack also!

I just bought a set. I thought they used to sell a bag that fits a pair of them but they no longer sell the bags. Ideas for bagging more than just wrapping in a tarp?
