Brand new 5th gen vibrating when braking

hey guys,

the whole body of my brand new 5th gen SR5 (400 miles) vibrates when braking. it's especially worse when braking from higher speeds. separately (but related), i sometimes feel the transmission "jolt" a bit when i first start driving around and take a turn.

only thing that comes to mind is i recently drove down a mountain using engine braking to slow myself and perhaps did it wrong? i never went faster than 30-40 mph while on S3/S4 and nothing ever sounded or felt wrong.

thanks in advance

Is it pulsing in the brake pedal and the steering wheel?

Sounds like "warped" rotors. I would start with replacing those. Go with Raybestos Advanced Technology slotted rotors.

Unless you have been driving those first 400 miles with your foot resting on the brake pedal you should not be having brake problems so soon. Also--have you checked the lug nuts on all wheels? Make sure they are tightened to the correct ft/lb torque for your wheels.

It is a new vehicle--I would have it checked by the dealer in case it is some flaw that is covered under warranty.

Take it to any dealer. you should not be paying for a damn thing on a car with 400 miles on it unless of course you caused an issue, but in this case they will handle it. They have to

Yes, as SR5Bart said, you can have your vehicle checked at any Toyota dealer.

You should check the lug nuts for your own safety, but there is no reason to try to guess what is causing the vibration problem when you can have the service dept check it under warranty.

It's probably warped rotors.

thanks for the responses guys. planning on taking her in this week. issue is getting worse - see video below

it's icy/snowy outside and my car is now doing this when i break, and sometimes when i accelerate also. you obviously cant tell in the video but the break pedal and entire care vibrate pretty aggressively. same thing happens when i accelerate sometimes.

my transmission also jolts a ton.. sometimes just when going into reverse, sometimes when going from 2WD to 4WD. again, brand new car, 600 miles..

As others have said, Toyota dealership only, don't try to diagnose yourself other than making sure there are no loose lug nuts.

This link might provide some understanding of what's commonly referred to as warped rotors:

THE REAL TRUTH ABOUT WARPED BRAKE ROTORS..
