a side note: using toyota filter and O rings, mobil 1 0w-20 advanced fuel economy ( I may switch to toyota oil next change for quieter performance) dorman drain plug gasket ....oh and it's nice to see the engine still full of oil when its time to change the oil because my last vehicle would have been down 1.5 qts

Can anyone confirm that Toyota p/n 15620-31060 is correct for the '19 T4R 4.0 engine? I seem to get a message that that part doesn't fit on at least 1 website (Ebay).

Which Fumoto drain did you use? There appear to be three on the website, of various lengths.

yes, PN 15620-31060 will work with all the 4R 4.0 5th gen engines.

There are different types of the Fumoto drain valve. Some of no nipple, some have a small one, and some have the longer one. I ordered one with the small nipple so that I could attach a hose to it if I wanted to.

I ended up with the same one. While looking around, I also came across the ones from http://www.nospillsystems.com, these are similar to the Motiv drain for the filter housing. Thought about it and decided I didn't want to carry another tool around just to drain the oil.

same issue here - exactly the same. You have to get an oil filter wrench -shown by another post here- which uses the "flats" rather than the "ears." I got mine off by using a long wrench/breaker bar which my son slowly rotated as I held the oil filter wrench by pushing it up onto the oil filter housing from underneath. I will not go back to the dealer or anyone else for a oil change. It was clearly put on using the same wrench as all other tasks..ie wheel removal.

The first oil change I did after the two year "complimentary" service expired, I encountered the over-torqued filter housing. I stopped right there and took it to the dealer the next morning. The service manager did not seem the least bit surprised by my claim and replaced the filter. I only had to clean up a little residual mess.
While changing the oil for the second time yesterday, I found that the housing drain plug was over torqued! The entire filter housing rotated, when trying to loosen the plug. I eventually got it loose and now should have not issues the next oil change but I am going to swap to the metal housing for piece of mind next time.

Yep. It fits the 4 Runner engine. This part number actually is listed as OEM for Camrys, Avalon, Rav4, etc, but not 4Runners. Go figure.
BTW, I never trust part fitment advice from 3rd party sites like eBay or Amazon. Go to a real Toyota parts dealer online site or oempartsource. (But in this case you’d get the same no fit message).

The 4Runner is so super easy to work-on too.

The 4Runner uses a taller perforated center tube but it can be swapped over. That's the reason it's "not compatible".

I'm pretty sure the housing is made from thermoset plastic, meaning you had to actually burn through it instead of just melting it. Not fun for sure.

Any chance that these over tightened oil filter housings are bending or damaging the internal perforated tube?

F-103 | Fumoto(R) Engine Oil Drain Valves
Just the first on on the list, F103. The picture doesn't show it well, but it's just a straight valve. It fits just fine under the access plate.
