Problem with Radio...Please Help

Hello. I have a 2020 4Runner TRD Off Road with premium package. I picked it up about a week ago. So far so good, however this afternoon I started the truck to go somewhere and when I shifted to reverse the back-up camera didn't turn on. I shifted back to park and noticed that the entire screen was black. I turned the lights on and all the interior lights work except for the lights for the Home, Menu, Audio, etc. buttons around the touch screen. I've tried pressing and holding the Power button and that does nothing. I disconnected and reconnected the negative battery cable and that did nothing. I also checked the Radio #1 and Radio #2 fuses and neither are blown.

Any suggestion? I'll take it back to the dealer, but I really don't have time to mess with this. If anyone has any other thoughts or suggestions, then I'd love to hear them.

Thank!

Did you try the fuse? Not sure why it would blow though .

I checked the Radio #1 and Radio #2 fuses but neither are blown. I wonder if it's just not plugged in on the back?

Ugh. The good news is that the radio is super easy to replace if need be.

Did you check those fuses with a meter - or just look at them? Either way - let Toyota fix it and maybe give you a loaner.

I just looked at them. I decided to give the top of the dash a little bump with my hand and it started working! I went through all the menus. The phone, audio, navigation, etc. all worked fine. I gave the dash another little bump and the screen went dark again.

Could it just be a loose connection on the back of the radio? I guess I'll pull it out and check!

I took it to the dealership today. They decided to replace the head unit. It should be here in a few days. Hopefully, that will get everything squared away.

Thanks for all the suggestions! And aside from this hiccup, it’s nice being back in a 4Runner!

I had a similar issue with a 2020 LE. Took it in and they discovered a cable wasn't fully connected from the factory. They connected it and I haven't had any issues since. They knew something was going on because this put an error in the diagnostics log.

I ask the dealer when I dropped it off if it could be something as simple as a loose connection. I was told that they checked all connections and they were good.

The radio was replaced yesterday, and now there are new problems. There is no navigation, or clock displayed on the touchscreen. When I press the MAPS button I get some message like, "this app is not installed, please contact Toyota..." and the clock is just all dashes like this: --:--

I couldn't get to the dealer last night to pick it up until after the service department was closed so I just left it there with the sales guys.

Anybody here have any ideas? Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Did the dealer forget to transfer the MicroSD with GPS maps from the old head to the new one? GPS Navigation won't work without the MicroSD card installed.

They said it was a connecter that wasn't seated properly. At least it's fixed now, and I can get back to enjoying my 4Runner.

I had a 2012 SR5 that I traded in September 2014 for a new 2015 Tacoma. Unfortunately, I hammered a deer with my Taco a few weeks ago and totaled it. That was such a great little truck, but the 4Runner is more useful to me with Wife and Kiddos.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.

Hey, I think we have the same truck! Super white TRD ORP. I've had my fill of magnetic gray for a while. I'm thinking about switching to the pro grille.

Ok, I've had 5 radios in 2 4runners. Again today the lower left part of the screen died, so no down channel and no "destination" button on the nav. Keep an eye on that problem.
2017 Limited. Hate the touch screen. They tell me the screen becomes mis aligned, with no way to correct it. Right now if I touch the lowest channel, it works the station right above it.
On my last nerve with Toyota.
