But regardless, why not just hang onto it with gas relatively low right now? Maybe your commute is truly ghastly (like 100 miles round trip a day), but let's assume it's 60 miles round trip. ~14400 miles a year of commuting.

As an example with gas at $3 a gallon, you're talking about $2880 in gas commuting a year with the 4Runner. If you double your MPG, you're right around $1440.

Is $120 a month worth potentially getting creamed on value lost in the vehicle, sales tax losses, fees, etc.?

Sorry to bring this up, I just have never understood folks bailing out of vehicles strictly over MPG as the financials just are not that big a deal. Especially given a 4Runner will run bullet proof to 200K miles or more (great vehicles to run high mileage on actually).

Why not do something like pick up a 2nd hand first generation Nissan Leaf as a commuter vehicle if you can make it with a single day of charge? Can probably find one used for less than $15K that'll run for awhile and then you save mileage on your 4Runner on top of it while still getting to keep it.
That’s why my Pro does not have a lot of miles on. I
Use my beater car for work. I Have 2003 Acura Cl sport I been driving for years. I take my Pro once in awhile. I would try and keep the 4Runner and get another car. If you can financially.

Yeah, that's the only concern. My assumption is if you can afford and modify a $50K truck brand new though that you can probably find a way to get a secondary vehicle as a commuter.

The only way I can see a pure swap making sense is if you have your heart set on something nice for commuting (and then I can understand not wanting to hold down payments on two more expensive vehicles).

Other piece of the puzzle is if you live somewhere that you cannot really accommodate the second car physically.

To answer all of your curiosites as to why I am selling my 4runnner and not keeping it. First, my commute is much much further than 100 miles daily. I'm looking at close to 500 miles daily. Yes it sounds crazy but money talks which is why I took the job. Second, I would like to get a nicer vehicle if I'm going to be spending that much time in my vehicle on a daily basis. That being said, I don't want two high car payments. I also don't want to rely on a $5k vehicle while traveling daily long distance. Not worth the headache of repairs and possibly breaking down in the middle of nowhere.

Wow, 500 miles is hard core. I've known people who've held down Tucson to Phoenix metro commutes, but even those are only about 200 miles round trip (and around 90 minutes each way). I thought they were nuts .

I don't think I could do it, would seriously look at getting a room rental or something to spend at least 3 or 4 nights a week at closer to work in this situation if it was worth it financially.

This makes sense to me now though since you'll be spending 6+ hours a day in your vehicle... And people I work with think my 22 mile, ~35 to 40 minute commute in the East Valley of the Phoenix metro is long .

Yeah I agree. Like I said though, money talks. I wouldn't be taking this job if it wasn't worth the pay

Can someone w/ an OEM stance 2020 TRD Pro measure and share the following distance:

* middle of front hub straight up to the bottom of front fender.

* middle of rear hub straight up to the bottom of rear fender.

Thanks!

Many of those were posted but already pre-sold or sold by the time I called. Also I guess I should have clarified, hard to find in a reasonable distance from me (aka less than 300 miles).

Already have one, but what did you do to yours? What tires are those and what size? Is it lifted at all?

I recognize half of these trucks on IG lol. Here is mine. I'm waiting on the suspension before I put on larger tires and new rims.

Yes it's lifted. Many other mods have been done in order to fit the 35x12.5R17 goodyear MTR's. No rubbing at all whatsoever. Full lock in reverse and forward. As well as on a steep hill which is where i figured it would rub in reverse but to my surprise still no rubbing. I also tried going in reverse over a speed bump and still no rubbing My mind was blown as I was told over and over it couldn't be done

I found in my driveway and garage in 5 spots I can get different measurements each time as much as 1/2" difference. When I do measurements to dial in height I always put tape on the garage floor by all 4 tires so the reading is consistant
