Gotcha. Being an old guy, I wouldn't be able to react to a deer jumping out in front of me that closely unless I was just idling along - LOL!

So why even change then? Personal choice, I just don't like the halogen look so I'm on that side of the fence.

angerbot, What do you think about just doing an H9 conversion instead? We can easily fit them by removing the bulb tab.

H9 bulbs will indeed outperform the H11 bulb swaps but at the cost of increased glare. They'll exceed what is street legal so I wouldn't recommend them.

FWIW I've been running the GE Megalight +130s and I live in the mountains where there are no street lights. I don't feel I need more light, certainly not enough to justify blinding other road users.

From my understanding, the H9s may be alright if you aim them downward slightly, but I have not tried it/seen data.

With all the research Iíve done on lighting over the years, I still allowed myself to get suckered into trying a set of the Diode Dynamics SL1ís in my 2013. It only took two weeks before I pulled them and went back to halogen. The color temp made my eyes feel strained and they certainly didnít light up the road any better. Currently I am running a set of the Osram Night Breaker Laser H11ís and have no complaints. It was the post on hidplanet showing what you posted here that steered me toward the Osram bulbs. Another downside to running H9ís is that they produce more heat due to being a higher wattage bulb. With that in mind, I didnít want to run the risk of having to purchase new headlight housings due to burned reflectors.

Forgive me if this has been asked as I didnít comb through all 5 pages of this.

Where do LED conversions like what Kustom 54 lighting does fall?

This thread is pretty much about led replacement bulbs for the factory headlight assemblies. The Kustom 54 units use Morimoto MLED projectors which are purpose built to get the most performance out of the led chips. Based on that fact alone, the MLED projectors will probably outperform any drop in bulb in the factory housings.

That makes sense, thanks.

I wasnít sure if would be considered the same since theyíre going into a light housing not made for LEDs, but since those lights are essentially self contained the housing doesnít matter?

Does anyone know why GE Megalight +130 H11s are impossible to find right now? No one has them in stock.

I bought my low beams from Headlightrevolution.com. They posted a YouTube video where they tested dozens of aftermarket LEDs and found a set that had the correct throw and cut off. Yes they are bright, but my wifeís 2019 Subaru with stock low beams gets flashed all the time. I was flashed maybe twice in 18 months.

Plus, MLED projectors are designed with cutoffs to not blind oncoming drivers

It seems many or most of these folks are happy because their world is all lit up. They donít seem to consider that the people flashing high-beams at them are doing so for a reason.

Perhaps an even bigger pet peeve is fog lights. Probably 98% of the time I see them, itís a clear night with no rain, fog, snow, or dust. Perhaps the drivers think it looks cool. The fact is that itís simply too much oncoming light on a dark road, regardless of how theyíre aimed. Itís not cool, itís idiotic if conditions are clear. Theyíre called fog lights for a reason.

Unfortunately, thereís no easy way to educate everyone on proper lighting usage. But thanks for contributing good info!
i run my fogs always. they put light against the road close to the vehicle. ive toggled them on/off a few times to see how it is, and it IS better with them on.

Iíve been doing a some research on this and I think Iím going to go with Philips h11 and 9005 crystalvisions halogens.

Do these seem like the right choice? I want something brighter than stock but I donít want to be blinding anyone with LEDs. Any help much appreciated.

Check out the Osram Night Breaker Lasers or the GE Mega Light +130ís for a good H11 replacement. Either one should be under $40 on Amazon. For the 9005 highs you can easily modify a set of 9011ís. So far Iíve been very happy with the Osramís and 9011ís. Both are brighter than the standard H11 and 9005 setup.
