Did he do a write up? I might be interested in trying this.

I may be in the minority here. However I actually like my trd pro rack. I use Yakima bar adapters on the crossbars and have my maxtrax and a 4 gallon rotopax fuel container on top. Built a diy high lift mount for the side using drag racing ballast clamps and hardware from ace that couldn’t be better. I’m not interested in a RTT or carrying significant weight up top so this work perfectly for me. No drilling and with the Yakima I’m using the stock maxtrax and rotopax mounts. I couldn’t be happier. Pics if you want.

Not my post, but I will confirm that the 23H mighty mount fits the crossbars perfectly. I am using them on my pro rack.

DO you have part numbers for the Yakima bar adapters?

I sold mine for $500. You can get aluminum cross bars from victory 4x4 for non pro rails instead of buying a super expensive rack.

Yakima Mighty Mounts 23H. They work perfectly on the stock crossbars. The rack tubes are 1.75" OD. Many clamps and mounts can be found to fit the tubes if you do a quick search. There will be a clamp solution for anything you want to mount to the tubes.

What kind of clamps are you using for the hi lift jack? I like the look.

I found 1.75" clamps online that had a bolt hole. Threaded in stud with loctite. Put on a couple nuts to lock it in and offer spacing away from the rack. Found a nice X shaped aluminum handle with a threaded hole that went all the way through. Couple of washers on each side of the highlift and it works great.

I have come across better clamps since i did this. Ones that have rubber to go around the roof rack bars. My current set up does not move but i do not like the metal-to-metal contact.

You can find a bar clamp like this to attach anything you can imagine. Awning, shovels, quickfists, whatever.

Search the big A for 1.75" bar mounts or clamps and get creative. Have fun.

Thanks, I just ordered some based on reading this. I didn’t want to drill through the bars to install rivet nuts, so this should be a great option.

This rack appears to be quite divisive. If you need a RTT, to get on top of your vehicle, or specialized use cases, then it probably isn’t a great option. However, if you rarely use it and just want the ability to throw some stuff up there from time to time, it will probably do just fine. The only real drawback I see is how tall it is, especially if you also have any sort of lift. I have an SR5 but picked up one of these racks from Craigslist after seeing this: TRD Pro (2019+) Roof Rack Install Guide & Parts List - 5th Gen 4Runner. I had also considered LFD crossbars, but I was able to get the rack for less than the LFD kit wold have cost me.

Anyone run a cargo box on the stock rails? They are pretty thin, not sure if I can run a box on them or need some type of attachment piece? TIA!!
